Regarding OP, its interesting to realize how comparatively few referred to it as `State of the Union' in advance -- just the joint address to Congress (same thing, but there is an emphasis difference).

The good part of that is that those by nature promise the sky and don't carry out as much as say usually. So maybe some of this reckless policy will not get off the ground.

This is actually very healthy for the Republic, but I'm sure it burns the Dems and Biden. Politics should never be entertainment.

These addresses like the State of the Union are always the 2nd branch of the gov't lecturing the 1st (and supreme) branch on what they need to pass in terms of legislation. It always consists of things that will never pass and is a free commercial for the President. It reeks of monarchy and should be done away with in a country that calls itself a republic.

You're making the claim, so you need to provide the evidence... like, where's a link to back you up on "ratings mean nothing?" Are all viewership rating methods false? Do you not think that with today's tracking tech via web, mobile, online/offline, etc. are not LIGHTYEARS ahead of where they were a decade ago? Google/Amazon/Facebook/etc. know almost every move you make - regardless of whether or not you have accounts with them. Yet for JOE BIDEN all of that goes out the window and "technology is irrelevant for gauging interest in 2021." That's so laughable and such a stretch that it should go viral and expose your extreme bias.

This is probably true. However, it doesn't explain why it is historically low as compared to other presidents.

We can all see what we want out of this and that's fine. My opinion is that everyone knows that Biden is a half-wit and that he is being led around by his nose by advisers. That's not really something anyone is interested in watching.

It is hilariously low though. Last Wednesday in the 21:00 block ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS got 18 million viewers with their regular programming vs 11 million last night.
