`Carol ISD in Southlake is pushing Critical Race Theory' ---- elements like the noblest thing a white can be is to be opposed to their race.

This is astonishing --- seriously, why isn't Fascism taught if you are gong to teach Bolshevism? Why are so many okay with that discrepancy instead of driving out both? Not asking about national Democrats, overwhelming majority are subversive collectivists -- but why is this tolerated locally?
We know the reasons why. Because we are controlled by the perception that the majority of us want these policies - a viewpoint that is reinforced by news media and social media. We also know that those of us that object publicly will be villified and fired from our jobs, our livelihoods threatened, our families shunned.

It takes a lot of courage and willingness to suffer adversely to speak up right now. You have written before about taking strength in numbers and I agree. We have to all stand up and object at the same time. A few at a time will not work - they will be overwhelmed and isolated quickly. But how?

Who defines what the societal norm is? I pretty sure I can find some offensive books that the librarian would have a problem with that are against her beliefs.

All that is true, but was asking a more general point. Has any student or parent asked an administrator -- `Why is Marxism allowed to be pushed, and Fascism is not? Why are not both banned equally?"

The idea is to force that to be looked at, so as to implode the double-standard involved. The controversy created might do it.

But everything you wrote was true all the same.

There is no simpler answer nor truer one than the Left is willfully blind and hypocritical. Those are the top of the pyramid aren't stupid nor do I even think they really believe in their philosophy, but it's a way of ruling and reaping the material benefits of control. We deride countries like Russia for being governed under a system of crony oligarchy and authoritarianism, but the USA isn't exactly a model right now for enlightened government either.

True enough. Our top probably worse than Russia at moment because their oligarchs are not trying to destroy Russian culture, people, and stature. Probably don't have much faux guilt either.

Alcedo mentioned the big about Biden wanting to add 1 more year in pre-K and 2 more years in jr. college for kids. Hell, you need about 5-7 years less of such brainwashing to impotence, and faster out into the effective world. Or move the vote to 30.

Well, well. Its over Chris Salcedo was hopping mad! And very right. Who exactly is this "Republican" Dan Huberty in Houston? He sounds like the banned type of conservative word mega-rino type if it is true he is refusing to support parental rights to halt the Critical Theory propaganda in what Chris calls "GovEd". and is an example of an "Educrat" -- who, interesting to hear this brought up, makes six figures via special interests.

He sounds like he is about to get some protest going, kept saying "its time" over and over again. You would think Southlake would be a favorable place for such a stand.

Is this gaslighting? We are hearing anecdotal evidence on every quarter every day about critical theory being shoved on people in schools -- from national to grade schools. Even in red bastions like TX suburbs like Southlake.

So here is the thing. I can't see a single book on this list appealing to your average junior high to high school student (maybe Leaves of Grass).

Its effectively a list of books that is going to get most kids to hate reading anything. That's really tricky part with picking reading lists. You need to find a good mix of quality, entertainment, and relevance to the students.

Absolutely. Exactly. Oh, and lets not forget President Biden directly reversing Trump's order on CRT. The fact that many are pushing Marxism is fact, not claim.

This particularly thing though, appears to be optional:

Quote:

Frisco ISD has a "optional" reading challenge (funded with prizes for participation) for books that "challenge social norms".
On its face, that can be okay. But its hard to imagine being rewarded for reading Chomsky last century. Maybe.

Just as long as nothing is off the table from other political sides.

The issue is that it may be optional, but it's incentivized through tax payer funding. It should be optional period, and even then it should centered around a more critical approach that includes many different viewpoints. Unless they're going to start incentivizing reading programs that push other ideas and viewpoints, no matter how controversial, then, IMO, they have a problem. Now they're subsidizing politics through incentivizing only a single view.

Not a one.

And anyone that doesn't rely on the village to help raise their kid is foolish. Carpools, keeping an eye out on the behaviour of kids away from their house aren't Marxist principles. It's just community.

Therein lies your bias. You took 'it takes a village' a Hillary Clinton rallying point to mean carpools and child supervision. I bet you casually see tons of Marxist ideas day-to-day as a teacher. You just don't interpret it as such.

You're blind. Open your eyes. If you can't see the countless articles out there documenting teachers putting their bias in children, teaching them to hate white people, and this country then you're a dishonest liar who probably agrees with their agenda. Based on your post history I know that is true. You're not fooling anyone with your concerned moderate act.

I personally had this crap pushed on me. Sometimes its more subtle, and sometimes not. I won't be gaslighted, or allow my children to be propagandized like I was.
