If cop is there to protect people, how does the dude that comes in feet first trying to kick the head of the girl on the ground not catch a couple of bullets as well? A kick to head of someone on the ground is probably more deadly than female with knife engaging another female.

If that big ass knife enters the midline of that girl in pink she likely bleeds out. The cop had just arrived on the scene, saw this girl running at someone else with a knife. At that point he didn't know who was who, who started the fight, who anyone was. A big ass knife was about to be swung into someone.

Not shooting the guy who kicked the girl in the head showed a lot of restraint and showed the officer wasn't letting his emotions get the best of him.

My dad shot 2 people during his law enforcement career. Both of them had already killed someone else and were armed and in shoot outs with police. What would you suggest he do in that case?

If your brother in law tries to kill you with a knife, then what would you want the cop to do? Sounds like you would rather deal with it yourself so don't call the cops if it bothers you that much.

Im suggesting there are other methods of intervention that don't involve death. Plenty of police and military units are trained in such methods.
