Sadly, never

My step-daughter, who just turned 23, and is a flaming liberal, told us last night that Asians wear masks all the time, even prior to Covid, so why shouldn't we? She claims she doesn't like it, but she's gotten used to it and thinks it's the right thing to do. I didn't say a word, because I knew I'd regret what I said. Thankfully, my wife told her that she hates wearing a mask and can't wait till the day she no longer does.
Would be interesting to see the same chart with current reporting standards applied. Seems that with stricter case reporting and mass inoculation of high risk groups, the downward trend was a given. I'll always believe it was a matter of population density and common sense over mask compliance. All the data I've seen suggests that mask wearing does little to nothing to stop spread.GeorgiAg said:
Trend line is looking pretty good for Texas:

It took a couple years, but they also didn't have social media.GeorgiAg said:

some changes may be permanent (some people wearing masks when sick, flexible work arrangements), but for the most part things will go back to normal when the pandemic is over. it's not right now, but we're slowly getting there.
When is "the pandemic over"?
Are we currently in a pandemic for the common cold? There will always be a high number of cases for a mild respiratory virus.

How can you guys continue to post the same crying, pouting, whining, petulant messages every single day. Do you just wake up each morning and go "man, my life is so miserable I better go assert my intelligence and worth by letting everyone on a dang message board know I don't wear a mask!". We get it... you believe the election was stolen. Biden sucks. Masks don't work. Coronavirus is fake. Kamala will be president soon. Earth is probably flat. Everyone should own an AR-15 etc etc Blah blah blah. Grow up! Move on! I do appreciate the comedy you guys provide on a daily basis so I guess thank you for that. Can we just post and discuss something other than masks? Maybe? Possibly?
Sure. What do you want to talk about today?kerrag06 said:

Exhibit A: Influenza variants & flu shots. The flu shot is reformulated twice annually to account for rapidly developing mutations. For many decades now.Cassius said:
With the continued talk of variants? Maybe never.

How the dems and the media are lying about the Georgia election bill because they're trying to prep the battlefield to ram HR.1 through?
How the so-called "infrastructure" bill spends less than 6% on actual infrastructure?
How Biden's proposed 28% corporate tax rate is higher than COMMUNIST CHINA?
How the latest capitol attacker was a black member of the Nation of Islam but the media literally couldn't contain their giddiness when they believed it had to be a white conservative? And now the story is completely gone?
Do you just wake up every day, throw on your triple mask and run to turn on the Maddow show so she can tell you how racist you are and how your very existence is offensive?

Sorry for you dying.jja79 said:
Absolutely serious. The kids are being conditioned to fear and comply. Last month in Scottsdale I was approached by a Marriott manager because I was upsetting some children by not wearing a mask.....AT THE POOL.
For the record I don't wear a mask anywhere and have been in my office every day of this nonsense.
Are you questioning Fraudci!?jja79 said:
But I didn't.

I tend to disagree with some on this board, and say yes. At least, mostly normal. Normal to the point anyone wanting to live 100% normal can and will, but maybe you see a few masks here and there at most. Though the timeline has been longer than I figured. Remember, it goes normal when enough of the people say it has. Even some of the more staunch covidians I know in real life are getting closer and closer to just saying f*** it. The more they get vaccinated, the more likely they are to go about normal life. I was talking with some who say 2 weeks after their 2nd dose, they will go back to normal, and these were pretty hardcore lockdown, scared/fearful types. I believe that will be a common sentiment among many. Even they roll their eyes at the variant talk, and it doesn't appear to be working with most.
The question I have is our businesses, including mine, going to drop the mask mandate? Because literally outside of that, I have been living 100% normal since about May of 2020. So I'm following trends in Texas, both vaccinated percentages combined with likely natural immunity, and deaths/cases/hospitalizations. I'm interested to see if there will be a small seasonal spike in june like some predict, or if enough immunity will overcome that. But outside of that, we are all but over from an overwhelm the healthcare system type of thing.
I think after a few more are vaccinated, and numbers keep coming down, more and more will remove mask mandates, and we are already getting back to normal capacity everywhere I've been. So yeah, I think it will be basically 100% normal, outside of you'll still continue to see some wear a mask for a while.
