Seeing as how we've had over a year of those things now, I'll be surprised if we're done with all of it this year.

I tend to disagree with some on this board, and say yes. At least, mostly normal. Normal to the point anyone wanting to live 100% normal can and will, but maybe you see a few masks here and there at most. Though the timeline has been longer than I figured. Remember, it goes normal when enough of the people say it has. Even some of the more staunch covidians I know in real life are getting closer and closer to just saying f*** it. The more they get vaccinated, the more likely they are to go about normal life. I was talking with some who say 2 weeks after their 2nd dose, they will go back to normal, and these were pretty hardcore lockdown, scared/fearful types. I believe that will be a common sentiment among many. Even they roll their eyes at the variant talk, and it doesn't appear to be working with most.

The question I have is our businesses, including mine, going to drop the mask mandate? Because literally outside of that, I have been living 100% normal since about May of 2020. So I'm following trends in Texas, both vaccinated percentages combined with likely natural immunity, and deaths/cases/hospitalizations. I'm interested to see if there will be a small seasonal spike in june like some predict, or if enough immunity will overcome that. But outside of that, we are all but over from an overwhelm the healthcare system type of thing.

I think after a few more are vaccinated, and numbers keep coming down, more and more will remove mask mandates, and we are already getting back to normal capacity everywhere I've been. So yeah, I think it will be basically 100% normal, outside of you'll still continue to see some wear a mask for a while.

When there's no money in being able to sell fear to the public (cough cough...big media...cough coug). When there's no need to make money off of selling medicine to the government to be distributed "for free". When there's a Game of Thrones Season 8 Snyder cut.

Not trying to be an A, but are you serious? The average life expectancy is 78 years.

There are no metrics being discussed in terms of :

-Percentages of the population that need to be vaccinated
-Number of deaths in the US
-Hospital rooms that are treating patients
-Number of new cases

Give us some "scorecard" that we can aim for!! Has anyone heard of anyone talking about this?

Faucci?

Biden??

Harris???

Give us a damn idea so we can push this out of our GDamn lives and open the whole freakin' country up you worthless fear mongers!!!

It will happen as soon as the CDC releases "guidelines" saying that people don't have to wear masks.

The "guidelines" are the only thing giving cover for private institutions to be mask Nazis. Once they don't have big government to hide behind and have to face the stupidity of Corona fear by themselves then everything will go back to normal quickly.

Problem is the CDC is big government and big government/Dems love the state we are in right now since they have a fake justification to spend trillions upon trillions of dollars. Even if the CDC releases no mask guidelines you can bet they will threaten to take away our freedoms in the fall when flu season crops up.

Business can't drop it until OSHA drops it as a requirement or else they risk a lawsuit

It's a shadow federal mask mandate

Absolutely serious. The kids are being conditioned to fear and comply. Last month in Scottsdale I was approached by a Marriott manager because I was upsetting some children by not wearing a mask.....AT THE POOL.

For the record I don't wear a mask anywhere and have been in my office every day of this nonsense.

some changes may be permanent (some people wearing masks when sick, flexible work arrangements), but for the most part things will go back to normal when the pandemic is over. it's not right now, but we're slowly getting there.

When is "the pandemic over"?

Are we currently in a pandemic for the common cold? There will always be a high number of cases for a mild respiratory virus.

Actually based on the micron size of the virus and the ubiquitous standard medical masks, you would need at least 30 masks to effectively "filter" the virus.

I hate to say it but I am going to say it again. This isn't about Covid it's about unadalterated oppression. Everyone thought once Joey b was elected this would go away, I did not. This isn't about giving Joe credit this is about stifling dissent. I don't care if 95% of people are vaccinated their will still be mask mandates etc moving forward until people do not comply. You want to get rid of masks the best way is absolute non compliance.

My step-daughter, who just turned 23, and is a flaming liberal, told us last night that Asians wear masks all the time, even prior to Covid, so why shouldn't we? She claims she doesn't like it, but she's gotten used to it and thinks it's the right thing to do. I didn't say a word, because I knew I'd regret what I said. Thankfully, my wife told her that she hates wearing a mask and can't wait till the day she no longer does.
