I'm not saying it isn't good that they do these things, just that they aren't selfless or sacrificial.

I'm mainly thinking about all of the black Civil rights activities, gay icons like Harvey Milk, etc etc who advocated for things that would make their life and their people's lives better.

However, those that actually go out and try to make others lives better, don't get as much praise.

The people doing most of the lionizing are often those who are benefiting so there is that.

Praise is determined by the political establishment...

It is then handed down to politicians, who hand it down to the media, who then hand it down to the sheep...

Determination of praise is based on what benefits the establishment.... Tearing down the American family model appears to be the primary target, but the basis is always money...

Say what you want about Donald Trump...a billionaire who advocated for working men and women (eg insisting on manuf plants being built in the USA, keeping fossil fuel jobs viable, putting pressure on foreign trading partners to play fair, etc etc etc)

Lionization? All he ever got was grief from the swamp

Joseph Goebbels comes to mind. His world involved lionizing Hitler and the Third Reich. Social media via censorship and claims of misinformation are used for that purpose nowadays.

When it comes to black civil rights, they were advocating for all of us, through eliminating a stupid and expensive system that throttled productivity.

Too bad today's race hustlers have perverted the good work of the 60s
