NM. Thought you said Senator.

New Englanders are a special breed that love to pretend that Republicans live there and that there's political dichotomy when there is none.

See Mitt Romney as an example.

Maybe the Republican candidates were crappy candidates and the voters weren't blinded by party loyalty?

You spend 2 months complaining about election results run by state officials in your own party and convincing your base their vote doesn't matter...

Recipe for disaster.

To switch from one party to the other requires a 180 about face on everything a person believes in. There is zero common ground between the two sides. My guess, as aluded to above, Californians have screwed their own state up enough now they are moving and contaminating other states.

Montanans have elected him three times, so he must be doing something right.

A big influence of Californians. Also a very high percentage of Montanans go through life depending on handouts.

Maybe it is a simpler answer. Maybe he does things right, and if its not broken, you don't fix it. Including him changing his party handle? Not sure just how "remote" Montana is from the political field, but it seems to be so. Maybe its just seen like Texas Democrats used to be.

Montana is a very large welfare state. The only reason no one thinks of Montana being a welfare state is because the population is low.

It has more than a million residents, about twice the size of Wyoming. Pick up Beaumont and drop it in Montana and the state has two Democratic Senators. Drop Beaumont in Wyoming and it's the largest city and threatening to turn the state blue too.

This.
Montana is low density population state. Atlanta metro alone has 6 times the population of Montana and is 60% of Ga's total population. The bad guys in Blue are starting to win the large urban areas in Red States. That trend must be reversed or we are going to have problems. Texas has the same problem Ga does.

Well, luckily for Montana, Beaumont is our problem, not theirs.

As a Montana resident, living in one of the poorest counties in the state, the welfare notion doesn't hold water. Our county voted like 94% for Trump. There is a large contingency of Union supporters up here, not to mention Butte, Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell, which account for probably 95%+ of the Democrat voters.

Tester is also a very gifted politician/liar. He convinced a lot of people, just 2 years ago I think, yet again that he is somehow a 'conservative Democrat.'

I'll wait to see what he actually does about the anti-gun legislation that is coming. Hint; it will be a mean letter like Manchin's about keystone. Then they will both vote for whatever insanity is in an 'essential bill.'

Should the scum Democrats push to eliminate the electoral college, states like Montana with very few electoral votes will NOT matter to the scum Democrats. Currently, each state is important to the Presidential candidates due to the electoral college. The people of Montana are ignorant of this, and in fact voted for the Democrat congressional candidate who represent the party that wants to diminish Montana's importance.
