If anything, it bothers me that we habitually force everyone in attendance of a sporting event (regardless of nationality, btw) to celebrate our country in this way...simply because that's what we've always done.
If I have said a prayer of gratitude for our country every morning, for example, because that's how I show my appreciation for America...I certainly wouldn't expect everyone else to do the same.

Perhaps he doesn't actually hate America...he just doesn't view a sporting event as any different from other forms of live entertainment, where we don't have to stand and sing an anthem...and no one seems bothered by that.
