The lack of self awareness is pretty staggering, but not surprising

History repeats itself dude.

The Native Americans didn't want the Europeans here.

In the early days of the Texas Republic, the settlers didn't want the Native Americans around nor the Mexicans. In fact, the Mexicans were considered inferior to the Native Americans in the settlers' eyes.

And now there is angst about Central Americans.

Who will y'all be worried about coming into this country 10 years from now? 50 years from now??

The one thing I find lacking in all these conversations is empathy. Why did the Europeans come over here? Why did the Mexicans come over here??

It boils down to opportunity. Economic opportunity. An adventurous opportunity. And so on.

I think we should all stop worrying about groups wanting to come to the States where by and large their intentions are benevolent and innocuous.

So, you're open borders. Brilliant. Almost every country south of us is inferior and unstable due to inferior culture and lawlessness.

We are headed there on our own with Democrats. Why would you want to hasten it?

is this like when atheists try to play "gotcha" with christians using out of context bible verses?

this wasn't nearly as clever as you thought it was when you hit 'submit'.
I wasn't trying to be clever. I'm a Christian, which is exactly why I feel a desire to help those that come here to improve their lives. It's why all of our ancestors came here! It's what this country is for - those who seek freedom.

I think most who whine about these caravans are just infantile subconscious racists or classists who don't care enough about the suffering of others.

What an incredibly disgusting take. You are what's wrong with the American left.

Get out of here with your fake empathy.

I came here legally.
Grew up in a socialist country and wanted to come to America since 3rd grade.
Took me 15 years to LEGALLY attain my citizenship.

There are millions like me all over the world who follow the process and get US citizenships.
They come in and fly US flags, and believe in the US constitution.

People like you that encourage illegal immigrants to break the rules shi$ on folks who follow the legal process.
These same folks who believe the US is racist, will fly Mexican flags and demand citizenship. And you encourage this behaviour.

This isn't empathy. You don't have an ounce of it. This is stupidity at best, and likely just pure evil borne out of sheer ignorance.
What you are supporting is absolutely despicable, and is an insult to legal immigrants.

Future Democrat voters needed to shore up that Demographic change needed for one party rule. Time to open the flood gates and turn Texas blue.
This was a really important election, and Joe Biden was a pretty weak candidate. It really makes one wonder why the Republicans nominated a corrupt, incompetent, immoral failed-businessman. That strategy is hard to comprehend.

Joe Biden is no better than Trump in any way. He's a corrupt idiot who's been a complete failure in the senate. Democrats are just better at cheating and propaganda than Republicans. Why do the Democrats repeatedly nominate garbage human beings to the highest office in the land?

I believe that was written by France, not the US.
It was written by Emma Lazarus, an American poet

Either way, it should not be confused with US policy.
you did the face palm, not me

I said nothing about it being policy.
But if you want to diss someone over it, be able to identify it.
Someone said you face palmed? Bummer
No, I don't care what CNN or MSNBC said this time

Marissa you need to study your Texas history. Mexico invited Europeans into Tejas because they couldn't settle it due to the Native Americans.
So you're saying Texans show no empathy for our illegal brethren that have come to these places. Tell that to the County hospitals that lose millions of dollars yearly for the Healthcare of these immigrants. The city and county police depts. that write 1000's of tickets per year only to have these people leave the area or not have a permanent residence. The community food banks giving out millions of pounds of food to them. What else do you want Marissa to let them vote in our elections? Would that be emphatic enough?
I'm all for anyone coming into Texas but do it legally, they are circumventing our laws.

We actually know, to some extent, as it was recorded. They were sometimes upset, other times indifferent, and sometimes glad to have trading partners with advanced technological goods, or potential military allies to help them against traditional enemies. It is much more sophisticated and complex than the naive and simplistic version offered in public school education. Native Americans more or less viewed at least the initial European settlers as another tribe/nation moving around, as many tribes did periodically.

I have nothing major against immigrants who go through the sanctioned lawful process. I do have an issue with people trying to force their way in or trying to sneak in.

And how do you know my empathies?

The Europeans brought disease which decimated part of the population. And then there was this Colt dude who invented a firearm you may have heard of. You heard of it, right??

Well once that firearm got into the hands of - I don't know, let's say the Texas Rangers - well that also contributed to the downfall of the Native Americans.

Laugh all you want. I don't give a damn. I will say it's entertaining to see y'all get all agonized about migrant caravans when it's frankly much ado about nothing.

the history you quoted is the reason why we care about migrant caravans. the people who settled the US WERE migrant caravans. And you just illustrated exactly why a native population or nation should not allow that **** to happen.

it endangers the culture, health, sovereignty, and nation of the people the migrant caravans are invading.

You just proved our point in a fashion which illustrates why your ideology is a mental disorder.

You say its no big deal, while at the same time reciting how those same policies led to invasion, subjugation, and almost annhilation.

All of those things are VERY big deals.

LOL-- "Hated Latinos" for the effect. and it is effective for dumb ones who believe.

Everyone one who makes it across will take a job away from a teen, or a non college worker.

When will blacks and brown Americans realize these folks take away from them in the short run and long run?
Illegal immigration is a problem, I agree. Why do you think black and brown (I assume you mean African Americans and Hispanics and not of Indian decent?) Americans do not realize jobs are being taken away from them?

Just imagine what the Native Americans thought when the Europeans came over. They probably wished there was a place that they could send the Europeans instead.

It's so easy for you to say that people should be sent elsewhere and yet you conveniently forget the history of North America and its inhabitants.

Why don't you try having some empathy for once?

Native Americans were more barbaric to each other than the europeans were to them.

Aztecs cut the beating hearts out of the native Americans they captured in battle as sacrifices. They enslaved each other, fought over land.

They were no better and in many cases worse than the europeans who came over were.

Did they have a right to defend their claim to land? Yes.
Were Europeans wrong for coming over seeking freedom and opportunity? Maybe, maybe not. By their point of view the land wasn't being used and noone had a legal claim to it.

Well right or wrong, the native Americans lost and history is full of instances where one tribe, group, nation, or culture took land from another. you would have to go back 10,000 years or so to get to the original inhabitants of any land.

At the end of the day, we currently inhabitants the land. we are using it, and the world is better off for it. if the US never existed, Japan and the nazis would have taken over the world in the 40's. communism would have engulfed the world in the 60's, the plethora of medical and technological advances that allow you to post your ****ty and ignorant opinion online for the world to see would not exist, and famine would be a real thing because US agriculture feeds the world.

America has a right to defend itself from cooption and invasion by migrants. America has a duty to protect its citizens from the dangers of unrestricted immigration.

Period.
