With all of the technology we have available, it is amazing to me that we allow mailing of any type

So what's the next steps?

These numbers are close enough in these battleground states for recount requests, right? That's when everything gets scrutinized?

I think that takes a few days or weeks.
That's my thinking. There are going to be recounts I am sure.

Legitimate question, not trying to stir the pot.

My understanding is most of the remaining votes to be counted are mail in ballots in a lot of these states. Why is it automatically assumed to be fraud that Biden is taking/growing his lead in these states?

What am I missing?

Well, part of it is wishful thinking, but there's problems with mail in/absentee ballots. The biggest is that there is no verifiable chain of custody. When people go canvas and vote harvest to turn in ballots for other people, they're not an election official. They could just as easily dump all of those ballots or go through them. Mail in is similar. It hinges upon the reliability of the post office. There is also no guarantee of where the ballots even came from. That's why in person voting with ID checks is important. The office collecting and counting the votes KNOWS who cast the ballot. It's not just a piece of paper that came from parts unknown with a name on it.

Texas counted all theirs early. They should have allowed them too. It's like this is the play Trump wanted. To play up the cheating if he needed to

Yes with the Senate staying R as well we get at least 2 years of gridlock.

Better than the alternative.

Some of it is just the bad optics of the late counting of controversial mail-in ballots swinging things dramatically.

But some of the mail-in ballot dumps, exclusively in Dem-controlled Urban areas, went 100% for Biden. And 100% for any candidate almost never occurs legitimately anywhere. Add in that it's much easier to perpetrate voting fraud on a mail-in ballot, and that's why you have somewhat reasonably grounded suspicions regarding some of the late vote counts.

Nice:

NYT: Because of an error in an Edison Research data feed of results, the estimate of the counted vote in Arizona displaying on maps and tables is too high. The actual estimate is that 86% of the vote has been counted.

WI, NV for sure. imho.

I guess I was just assuming the Florida mail-in ballots were the same as everywhere else, where if the seal is broken, it is thrown out. As well as the signature not matching VERY closely to your state ID.

But the gains by Rs make taking the House in two years much more reachable.

Absolutely right. In 2 years if Trump ends up losing the Republicans probably take the house back. Things are not as bad as it seems. Although I'd much rather have the executive at the end of this.

This doesn't make any sense with 98% reporting
if you look at the counties sill in question, the precincts not reported trend very conservative.
Unfortunately, they aren't very big counties. Even if it was 80/20 to Trump, unlikely you make up the difference to catch up.

Would be huge.
He has coattails to flip the House, keep the Senate yet loses the Presidency?

It's those pesky never Trumpers. Rs turned out huge but there are some that voted R except for President.

I'm married to one of those.

That doesn't explain massive gains in the house like we got. Never trumpers are negligible.

Considering how close this is, no one is negligible.

If they are close enough for a recount, they are close enough for lawsuits.

Roberts really screwed the pooch with that 4-4 non-decision. Now SCOTUS will most likely be picking the President. A result he really didn't want as it damages and delegitimizes the Court even further.

So the 1.4 million PA "mail in ballots" that mysteriously showed up in the wee hrs. Is it normal for mail in votes to be counted so late? Sorry, but this doesn't pass the smell test to me.

AZ has said theirs is not rural vs urban like most of the others.

It is the opposite for whatever reason of most of those still counting - where it is ED voters not mail in to be counted. And ED voters were heavily Trump.
