I do not use the post office for anything, so would never vote by mail. I pay my bills in person or online. I do gift delivery with ups or fedex only. Postal service is just a source of endess junk mail and flyers. But I really see no problem with people dropping ballots off at any county annex location. I go to the one in Mansfield to renew my registration and get car plates, not to the one in downtown fort worth. I am over 70 and try to avoid big city parking issues as much as possible.

I don't see it as voter suppression, but don't see what was wrong with using county annex locations since they are good enough for almost all county business. I just wonder why he picked THIS fight.

It's not at all voter suppression. People can start voting today they have almost a month to vote.

What is so hard about getting your vote in or going in person and doing it in a timely fashion. Constant bull**** whining all the time from the left

There is even curbside voting, at least in Boerne. So no, voting isn't being suppressed.

You don't understand what "voter suppression" is. Even allowing these boxes is an unusual accomodation. Mail in ballots are supposed to be mailed in.

I admit I haven't followed this issue with drop box locations, but do I understand this correctly?

Voters have the option to request mail-in or absentee ballot that must be post marked by x date, they have the option to go to an early voting location from 10-13 to 10-27, they have the option to vote in-person on election day, and they have the option to drop off a mail-in ballot at the drop-off location in their county by election day.

That sounds like a lot of options and few excuses not to vote. Where is the suppression? Or is it suppression because certain people want tons of drop box locations across every county where anti-fraud controls and surveillance would be limited or non-existent?

The one box per county drop box location is law. It isn't something Abbott made up this summer (as did the democ rat judges).

It's the law. He didn't change the law. He is supporting the law.

I heard Abbott explain it yesterday. It is done because they need poll watchers to make sure people aren't cheating. I believe traditionally, the boxes were only available on election day. Now they're open throughout early voting. Mail in ballots are normally mailed in, not taken to a drop box.

Several years ago, my elderly Mom was voting by absentee ballot in our very small rural county. She was legally blind at that point so I always had to fill out her ballot for her. All of that was done with the express permission and in fact the direction of our local election supervisors.

One year, we completed her ballot and I was running an errand right next to precinct headquarters so I though I would save the postage and drop it off in person. Again, the workers there knew me and knew my situation with my mother. But I was told that since she had received her ballot through the mail, it could only be returned through the mail if it were to be counted.

The law on that may have changed since then, though.
