Only 13 can gimbal though. I think the ones that didn't light were mostly that set of the 33, and I'd expect they have some algorithm for cut off of those critical ones.

I mean the airliner paradigm would suggest your engines aren't going to be that flaky once it's mature so no need to have a solution for fast engine replacement. Backup boosters does seem to be the closest analogy. They should all be essentially the same, and just the starship is what's unique?

But in the long term, when they are trying to launch every hour or two, dragging a booster all the way back to the barn for an engine replacement and rolling a new one out might put a crimp in their schedule. Easier to roll out the new booster to keep the flights going and just set the other one aside somewhere close to do the replacement.
