Absolutely incredible. Musk is clowning these people and they can't handle it.

Oh noes, here is NASA launching bricks into the water by 39A during the above mentioned flame trench failure (note the splashes).notex said:
That's a great twitter follow but this is kind of absurd, even for Democrats. "Oh no, now we have chunks of rock in the ocean/on the beach."Quote:

Rocks, nitrogen, methane, stainless steel (maybe some re-bar), and oxygen. That's pretty much it. A cruise ship's weekly emissions into the sea are more harmful/damaging.
For the residents; you live by the ocean, right next to Mexico. I don't have this enormous pity about the poor folks who live within 10 miles of the shore disclaiming their property ever gets any wind/shaking/dust. C'mon, man.

That would delay his spaceflight operations for years, if it is even possible. Much of what they need falls under the export controls associated with national security. I mean I think he could go to Canada, but other than that if he left I think he's cut off from almost all of his suppliers, equipment, etc.
I wouldn't bet against him doing that, but it would be a "burn the ships so everyone knows there is no retreat" kind of move.

Part of the difference is that SpaceX didn't even try.
They knew the pad would be destroyed.

He wants China to win
He certainly could try but my question is how much of the technology they currently deploy could be exported? HS friend is pretty high up in DHS and he was talking about SpaceX and how they have agents permanently attached to monitor the risk of "industrial espionage."Sea Speed said:

Canada is far more liberal and restrictive. They would limit Elon to EV rockets.ABATTBQ11 said:FarmerJohn said:Quote:

Canada probably won't work. Needs to launch close to the equator to take advantage of the speed imparted by the Earth's spin.
Could just say **** it and create new suppliers elsewhere.

Would be hilarious if SpaceX started charging the AF, SF, and NASA way more for falcon launches. Like, "If any part of the payload is for the government, it comes with a $40 million surcharge."
When they tore through their concrete before, they were not using fondag. For the 33 engine static fire they used fondag, and it did fine. It was at half thrust, but still it showed that it would do much better than the other concretes they had used before.bmks270 said:TexAgs91 said:bmks270 said:Caliber said:NASA created brick missiles back in 2008... Common sense and insights from static fire. They just wanted to move fast.

It sounds like complete B.S. to me…
My guess is that it's someone not in-the-know overhearing standard industry parlance like "stand down" that ordinary follows during an anomaly investigation and then layering their own anti-Elon wish-casting.

Much of the Starship technology is ITAR and can't be exported easily. It's a nightmare trying to share data with ESA and they're building the Gateway module that Starship will dock to during the Artemis IV mission.TriAg2010 said:Sea Speed said:

My understanding with him taking his ball and going elsewhere is ITAR correct? I know SM was warning people eyeing the wreckage for a dive, and that particular subject is being knocked around heavily in the tech diving world( the wreckage is in ~250ft of water apparently) by the people actually capable of reaching it.
