I'll be surprised if it's not another abort, but I'm not a rocket engineer so what the heck do I know?

If something ruptured I have no idea how they work around that. Will be interesting to see if they are able to make a go/no-go call before a second fire or if they're going to have to light them to find out.

Maybe they'll mix it up and explode on takeoff this time

Elon apparently just tweeted that the software thrust limit upper boundary was violated, so they're increasing that in the software and trying again...

I love the response on why they shut down engines during the accent.... "Because there is too much thrust..."
Suppose I was an idiot. Suppose I was a member of congress. But, I repeat myself.

To be fair, full-flow staged combustion engines are not as common (only twice that I'm aware of), and Raptor might be the only one that's actually flown. We're not just testing a new style of spacecraft, but also a new engine that's based on a very different design philosophy than what they do with the Merlins.
I don't disagree at all, fwiw.

Really, starship is cool and all but it's basically a big steel rocket without a lot of breakthru tech...other than the engines. The control methods are bizarre vs. 'normal' but nothing beyond the realm of x-20/x-15 etc. programs, but for the last second flip as far as the aerospace guys are likely concerned.

Now, bringing it back intact from orbit is pretty cool, but we're really just at the phase of cussing at the engines for not starting up 'just right' when we want them.

I was teaching class starting at 2 pm. Had the feed up on a 2nd monitor and threw it up on the screen at the engine chill stage. We talked about using math and engineering in the real world. And then the let down. But we also talked about real life prototesting. 100% worth it.

It's like that old aircraft maintenance email that makes the rounds occasionally.

"Engines exceeded thrust limit - thrust limiting feature removed."

These are the averages over the last several tests. Can vary. Tri-vent time tends to be on point.

5:15 local is the latest unofficial estimate. Maybe sooner.

It'll be interesting to see how they take this down. Keep expecting it to fall over.

I'm blown away that they lit the engines earlier this afternoon, aborted, reset, and launched the same day.

So it didn't land straight? I swear it was leaning. And a little on fire and it bounced.
PJYoung

it looks like all 3 engines lit and then 2 shut down instead of just 1 but it landed on just 1 engine.

And it landed hard, bounced but didn't fall.

Amazing!
