When is NG scheduled to try to launch again?

It hasn't been rescheduled yet. I am not familiar with the propellant loading cycle enough to guess when the NET date could be. I assume they lost a lot of O2 and LN2 and likely need to replenish. Does anyone know if LC-36 has commodities piped in from a production site at or near the cape?

Apparently a 48-hour recycle so Wednesday, though nothing official yet. Scott Manley said their 'launch window' closes on the 16th so I am not sure if that is their launch license currently, or something else (probably related to the special orbit they have chosen to shoot for).

It's also a hydrogen upper stage? Not many folks keep a lot of that sitting around.

Very true! Tanks can only hope to contain liquid Hydrogen for a little while. Are any of the other commodities produced near the cape and piped in?

Officially? Soon. Realistically? 2026

Ha even I don't think it will be that long.

They got a good ways down their count down before scrubbing.

I admittedly haven't looked much, but have they said yet what caused the delays and eventual scrub last night?

Nothing has been said yet.

I am somewhat surprised they didn't provide any realtime update on issues they were experiencing for resetting T0 so many times. I certainly expected the launch time to shift into the window. Why not divulge? This method of managing expectations seems to do worse for public perception in my opinion.

Icy vent line, according to Berger.

Quote:

According to sources, the primary problem was likely ice clogging one of the vent lines that carry pressurized gas away from the vehicle. Several attempts were made to melt the ice, but these efforts were not successful, necessitating the scrub. Hopefully Blue Origin will provide more information about the cause of the scrub in the coming days.

It's obviously a joke, but for real they're like 4-5 years behind their original timeline and a launch has been what feels like perpetually just around the corner. It'll probably be this month or next month, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was way longer.

SPACEX has been burning through the engines in the past week. They were even burning them after the All Quite Hours... $$$$$$$ for the City of McGregor.

Speaking of McGregor, my wife's cousin lives in Valley Mills (not far from McGregor. He said Valley Mills is getting ready to start growing - a hayfield across the highway from him was sold for a housing development.

As of January 2025, 2 Raptor 3 engines have been spotted at McGregor with serial numbers 1 and 4 over the span of 5 months. Numerous firings from Raptor 3 configured stands suggest active and intesive testing of the engine in the devlopment phase and likely of 4 engines due to the probabaly testong of R3s 2 and 3 inbetween however there is no definitive confirmation of this.

The first Raptor 3 engine was spotted on 3 August 2024 at McGregor. On 31 December 2024, NSF's Gary Blair spotted Raptor 3 SN4 on the horizontal test stand at McGregor.

Don't like him either, but I'd much rather him succeed than the Chinese.

There are some other upstarts, notably Rocketlab that could become a major player over the next 5 years, but we need a few players in the 'space' so to speak/pun intended.

Bezos I would guess would sell out anyway if BO is succesful, and see no reason not to pull for them still despite their history of delays/lawfare (though they tend to act/sound like sips a little too much for my taste). ULA seems resigned to becoming a niche player for gov't launches for a while, imho, and while they have good engineering talent still, I think the culture there won't allow them to innovate their way out of it.

I decided to get out in December at about +50% and glad I did. Even with the launch tomorrow it's been on a steady decline and is below $50 street being in the mid sixties to seventies 3-4 weeks ago.

I wish I had bailed out at 70 a few weeks ago when I considered it. If we have a successful launch tomorrow and it pops again, I am going to get out.

They posted the sonic boom advisory. Propellent load only takes 45 minutes now. The window is from 4pm until 5pm.

Personally I think they are probably gonna wait until Thursday since the weather is waaaay better then.

Interesting article I found while watching this Falcon 9 rocket liftoff.

If you ever wondered if there is a way to produce oxygen on the moon, well actually there is. The dirt on the moon (called regolith) contains a lot of oxygen. Every 1.43 cubic meters of moon dirt contains about 630 kilograms of oxygen, or roughly 45% of the dirt is oxygen. If you extract this oxygen (from the 1.43 tons of regolith moon dirt) it would produce enough oxygen for a human to breath for almost 2 years! Yeah pretty crazy. Anyway, the article states if you processed the top 30 feet or so of the entire moon Dirt you could produce enough oxygen to supply the 8 billion people on earth oxygen for, close to 100,000 years! Fact of the day!
