How fantastic was that on this fine evening. I got a call from a young lady in the class of '23. She went through her whole spiel about updating my info, asking if my job was current, how it was going with Covid etc etc...then she finally got around to her ask, "would you be willing to commit to re starting your previous donations"

This was the moment I was waiting for. I made sure to stay very polite because she was. But I just let her know that while our current administration allows students and faculty and especially our student athletes to talk down about our institution and about former students I would not be donating any money.

She was very quick to rebut and explain they aren't a part of the school and just a nonprofit organization, leads me to believe she had heard this many times before. To that I said I understand and I would love to support her and the association but they have a major voice in the directions the University can go And if they came out and public challenged the narrative or challenged the administration for not standing up for the university and its former students, that then I would support them. But it is my belief the only way to prove the point at this moment is by those upset to withhold funds and make it hurt and make sure they fee the impact.

I received the same call last night and delivered a similar message. Not another dime.

Don't give them a damn nickel. And communicate to the sponsors and advertisers that you are done with them as well until changes are made.

I tend to click ignore on most all calls...I jumped off the couch to go answer this one in the other room.

Got the same call last week - told him the same thing.
No more $$ till the administration is moving in another direction - he basically told me he was getting that response a lot!!

Why do you assume she's some snowflake and the reasons for not giving aren't compiled and carried up? I dealt with unhappy customers while working in high school. It was part of the job and I learned a lot from those interactions.

I don't understand your objection provided his feedback was given in a professional and courteous manner which he said it was. The caller should be relaying his concerns up her organization through the mechanism she is given.

Starve the beast. Great job OP. The idea that we have to give even more to universities and their quasi institutions after you have graduated is one of the biggest psychological scams in modern era

Received my call last night. Delivered the same message in a curious and calm manner. She said she understood, tried a few reheated rebuttals but ultimately said she's been hearing this a lot. Keep it up ags. #NotAnotherDime

Get off your high horse. These kids are put into these positions voluntarily. It's a job. They're learning something. And it wouldn't MAS if OP talked to a higher up in the FSA. It'd be the same answer.

Edit to add without OP's $ she may lose her job. NAD!

I don't understand why you folks ever donated in the first place. I paid good money to go to what's supposed to be a publicly funded school. Why would I dream of continuing to pay them?

These young people get paid by the University to do what they are doing, which is rounding up donations. They are paid employees of sort of an organization, which is complicit in student athletes calling donors racists, and employing professors that run down the same university, again calling it racist too, along with the alumni that support it. So, when people that donate huge sums of money to the university cannot even get a call back on why the university supports these athletes, professors, etc. that make these incorrect and slanderous accusations, these "kids" that call for donations are the only outlet to voice the reason why they decline to donate. Yeah it sucks for sure, because they have heard it countless times by now, but if the donation solicitors are not getting donations somebody above them has to ask "why?". And they will have their answer. Via the ones they put on the front line. If anything, hopefully it will sink in to the kids they have calling for the donations, and why they aren't getting them, provided the people they call explain politely and in a well thought out manner why they are taking a hard pass for now, and that the kids realize that "going woke means going broke". Hopefully, this gets translated all the way to the "top", where it matters, and changes are made. Unfortunately for the kids calling, the university has put them on the front lines of a donation war. Not the ones the kids asked for, but one the university has placed them in.

You can always tell them that you're not a POC and that you don't want to dilute the diversity of the donor base.
