Does anyone have any good links to all the flooding going on in China right now? I've read a few articles about it but they didn't have many good videos. Fox has some articles on the flooding. Other articles and people on Twitter are saying the 3 Gorges Dam could fail if the rain keeps coming? Some reporting millions of people at risk ..

In my younger days, your comment was my exact thoughts.

Now, if the flood could hit the party headquarters and wipe out the politburo, bring it on. However, like many benighted and ignorant souls of a dictatorship, it's likely 80% of the 1.4 billion folks in China are great people who just want to take care of their families and live a life.

So in my old age, I'm conflicted. However, anything that's bad for China can't be too bad for us.

From the other thread, there is a concern it could significantly disrupt pharmaceutical manufacturing. A lot of plants in harm's way.

Unfortunately despite Covid we still haven't made any sort of effort to bring pharmaceutical manufacturing back to North America. We rely on China and India for an insane percentage of our meds.

It doesn't sound like the dam is threatened, but it's not very effective at actually controlling flooding. It's probably still effective at providing electric power. I guess that was the real goal and flood control was a thin justification.

It isn't the Chinese people who are our enemy, it's the crime family known as the CCP. Its the poor rice farmers, shop keepers, etc. who will pay the price. No high ranking CCP officials will drown.

At least there's still India. Regardless, It's because of this more reasons are needed to hammer home why critical infrastructure and manufacturing need to be here, no matter the cost. Even supporting manufacture in central and South America would be a better than reliance on China.

I saw a documentary, when thr dam was built the CCP relocated over 1,000,000 peasants. Im sure they were well compensated for their family homesteads.

This is very sad to see playing out, as the Chinese have always suffered from floods from a certain government indiffference.

In June 1938 Chiang-Kai-shek sacrificed about 2 *million* Chinese dwellings by blowing the dy kes on the Yellow River to stop a Japanese army advance on Hankow.

(Of course, I do not know, but am trying my best to be directionally accurate as my own planning guide.)

That said, NOBODY on earth know which way even this CCP virus is going. Nobody. It is mild at this time. It's really just gotten to the point where it's big scale. We have not even gone through a complete annual cycle. By this time next year we will have gone through a complete single cycle where it was already big in both hemispheres. We just do not know.

To reiterate for the 100th time, my view is that USA should open up. Accept the casualties and bury our dead and keep rolling.

We have far bigger issues on the Big Board such as economic collapse, civil war, and whatever comes out of China.

We are at war internally and with China. China is transparently freaking out. China's economic prospects are horrific.

Despotic dictators are apt to do anything even on a good day.

In addition to bleeding wealth at the same rate this water is shooting through TGD, if TGD collapses, China is toast.

TGD still seems to be filling far faster than draining. Stress growing. You maybe have noticed they blew another dam this weekend to mitigate risks. That's a pretty desperate move.

I just got no idea what they will do other than be prepared for hardcore cannibalism and other mayhem at least in China.

Three Gorges Dam affects you. If it breaks, most people will be adversely affected in the short term. China will be devastated.

The good news is that this will complete most of our decoupling. The bad news is that it will be like splitting Siamese twins with a chainsaw.
