I've begun to think that a vaccine, no matter how ineffective, is the only means to extract ourselves from this madness. We've got half the population convinced that if they leave the house without a sock over their face they may die. Universities are cancelling all in person classes through the end of the year. Major cities are shuttering businesses for months to come. Every utterance of opening meets with howls of impending death and disaster. A large swath of the American public has lost its collective mind; it demands a "cure" before it will come out from under the bed.

So a "cure" it will get. It may effectively be nothing more than chicken soup, but chicken soup it will have.

Will it come with almost certain death like SARS vaccine? Since this is SARS2: Weakaas boogaloo, it would stand to reason that it would.

All this silliness over something that is almost 100% survivable.

Yeah. I'm very pro vaccines, and I think we absolutely have to have one since there are lots of people, states, and even countries that won't fully open back up without one. But I can't imagine the number of corners that have to get cut to get this done.

I'm in bio pharma. From the day a manufacturing campaign is finished we take 6-9 months to release the product for human use. QA/QC is mind numbing, but we do a damn good job of it because we'd like to not kill the people we are trying to help.

You can speed a lot of things up with more money and more people, but condensing a 10 year process into 7 months would be an achievement on par with the moon landing.

Sounds like there will be dozens of human guinea pigs available to be paraded on CNN and MSCCP talking about the horrors of their side effects during premature clinical trials. It's a lose/lose. Just OPEN THE COUNTRY UP, and everyone will be "vaccinated" soon enough!! Hell, probably 60% of us have already been "vaccinated."

I'm all for it. I'm not injecting something into my body that hasn't had years of testing and monitoring of side effects, but get that sucker out so people in panic mode can take it and decide we can get back to normal and not have to wear masks every time we leave the house this summer.

I actually already know. It'll be that this vaccine isn't effective for the Corona that's already mutated so they'll wait for the vaccine that eradicates the entire virus.

I am as anti-antivaxxer as they come. I think anti-vaxxers are morons who do nothing but make the rest of us less safe. That being said, no way on God's Earth am I going to let someone inject a vaccine that only took a year to go from research to workable product in me for this, either. My shop will be turned into the Little Alamo if they try to force it on us, as well. Mad props on the initiative but as someone who is on the low end of middle age and has a robust immune system, I am not worried about this virus in any way. In fact, I think it's been turned into a major boogeyman for political reasons more than anything.
