What the Dem lawyer, Letter, is conveniently overlooking is if the grand jury material indicated someone, including Trump lied, it would have been noted in Mueller's Report and to hell with the OLC opinion about not indicting sitting Presidents. It is a far different thing between a Special Counsel's office saying we think the President committed crimes and actually trying to indict him.
Ken Starr had no problems saying Clinton had committed multiple crimes, citing the statutes by chapter and verse. If very biased partisans such as Weismann and Van Grack couldn't get creative enough to craft a perjury charge out of thin air from the underlying grand jury material, then there's no there there.
That being said, the Dems still have to get past the
McKeever case in the DC Circuit Court of Appeals. To do that they have to show the House Judiciary's request falls within the statutory exceptions to grand jury secrecy. Period. Full stop.
