What is really interesting about this is Trump goading them to do it.

I think that points to my long-held theory being right: let the house democrats derail and end up with an un-winnable impeachment situation and then have your allies in the senate use it as a show trial to parade the democrats' dirty laundry during election season.

Someone posted earlier and after pondering on it a bit, it rings true for me. Nancy is not in control and she was essentially reading a script prepared shortly after Trump's inauguration. They have been compiling their "evidence" to support "their case", such as it is, for the past 3 years.

Understand this.....Trump was going to be impeached, regardless of evidence of a crime, because the deep state's ***** lost. I look at what they have and just scratch my head at the totally impotent and vacuous nature of said case.

Thankfully the Senate will run the process and ultimately dispense with this nonsense; however, we as a nation will be seriously damaged. God help us all.

Well, if they were successful in removing Trump, which they won't be, Pence would be a lame duck as President for about 6-9 months before the newly elected President would take over, whoever that would possibly be. In Dems mind, Pence would have absolutely zero power to get anything done as President.

Trump being convicted and removed from office would be extremely advantageous for Democrats. They absolutely cannot beat him and they know it. Pence, Haley or whomever would be a more bearable opponent, aside from whatever Republican rage that would be drummed up as a part of this process, which is a huge unknown.

I would think the best play for Senate Republicans would be to draw this process out as long as possible. Use the procedure to dig up any and all dirt about Democrats current and past. And if corrupt republicans get caught in the net, so all the better. Make America see That Trump really is draining the swamp and create a fervor leading up to November that results in not only a larger electoral college win for Trump but increasing the hold in the Senate and flipping the House.

Should that be done, it's high time for Republicans to actually do something when they are in control. No more concessions. Save our Republic.

So much this. The juxtaposition of impeaching Trump over his doing something to advance his political interests against a political opponent when Warren, Klobuchar, Booker and Sanders are sitting on a jury against their political opponent will be too rich.

If the Dems want a war, it will be a war on many fronts that they will get. It won't just be Biden who will be trashed, it will be Brennan, Comey, Clapper, Obama, Pelosi and Schiff who will be in the garbage bin of history when it is over. And likely McCain, too.

I fully expect them to resurrect some of the Mueller obstruction nonsense which will provide War Damn Turtle and Graham to go into how the muh Russia lie was started in the first place. All of the circular sourcing, OCONUS lures, entrapment, push-pull ops and the involvement of the intelligence agencies of other countries in the 2016 election.

Obama's legacy will be not only tarnished but he will be judged as the worst and most corrupt President in the last century.

Getting the MSM to actually report on the Democrat dirt revealed at all or without aggressive spin in the Democrats favor will be the hard part.

Point taken. But as the general public's attention span is about that of a dog sitting in a yard full of squirrels, my concern about a quick process is that the Democrats would then spin it as a one sided Senate acting as a roadblock in the path of justice. Then they go scream that Trump was impeached. Their clueless base thinks that's the same as him being convicted and now they're on the way of avenging Clinton's electoral college beat down.

I'd rather see the Democratic candidates tied up in hearings that expose the sham process and the decades of misdeeds by career politicians. Build up that anger with Americans to a crescendo in September. Then let Trump beat that drum all the way to Election Day.

To allay your concerns, keep in mind that the senate republicans are very likely to repay the house democrats in kind. Run a sham political investigation in your chamber at the expense of our party? Fine. We will run a show trial in the chamber that really matters against your party during an election year and leave your media with the option of ignoring it and pretending it isn't happening or covering it and exposing you for what you are.

This is the part that I just can't figure. Despite what this board thinks, there are many intelligent operatives among their ranks. I don't see how they can conclude that this is a winning hand. My guess is that, in reading the tea leaves, this is a Hail Mary attempt. Perhaps they think Trump will hang himself under examination, which is really their best hope.

This is what I can't get over. These people may be corrupt, but they're not politically inept. I can't see a Democratic win out of this, which gives me pause that they may have a hole card that they're waiting to play.

One thing is for sure. There's no middle ground out of this. One party is going to be severely damaged once this process is done. It seems obvious that it will be the Democrats on the losing end. But throughout I'll be waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Pelosi has the Squad and their allies telling her impeach, or we will remove you from the Speaker's chair.

Schiff needs no one to control him. He and Nadler have been all in on impeachment since election night, 2016.

FYI the market was set to have a pretty good day after a rough start to the week, there is no doubt in my mind that this rush to make a statement by pelosi was to try and reverse the market.

Democrats have been and continue to be fighting against the American people and there are millions that are too dumb to recognize it.

Not to mention the Senate trial will be conducted under the Federal Rules of Evidence. So much of the Dem "case" for impeachment is anchored to evidence with admissibility issues as it currently stands, the House Managers will be tap dancing and pounding on the table a lot. No facts? No law? Pound the table!!!

With all this impeachment talk, I just wanted to throw this out there...

In regards to Trumps polling numbers with Rasmussen...

Trumps approval has skyrocketed since being 44% on November 24th to 52% today.

52% is the highest it has been since the middle of September. It is also only 1/5 times to have been 52% or higher(Feb '17, Feb '19, Apr '19, Sept '19). And if you notice, He has hit that mark 3 times this year, so it seems as though his support is growing.

Not to mention all the $$$ he is raising. I have NEVER donated to any political person until recently with all this impeachment BS. And have now donated twice recently.

Biden stated yesterday that he will not show up to the Senate impeachment trial. We will see what happens when he is handed a REAL subpoena, with backing.

Probably part of it, but Pelosi has no choice anymore.

Not only does she have the bat **** crazy wing of her caucus after her, but their base is so rabid that if they don't impeach, the reaction will likely be violence.
