Police Sergeant statement from when I tuned in:

after crime - fled, took cab, got video from cab, went to north side, walked on foot, more video footage.

then before crime - they went backwards to where they got out of a cab, more video footage, tracked cab back to when they hailed rideshare car before the cab.

then based o rideshare info they knew who they were and where they went before and after, jumped on flight to nigeria.

purchased roundtrip returning Feb. 13. Felt that gave them a couple of weeks to further investigate before they returned.

over 50 search warrants and subpoenas - phone, social media, etc.

On 13th had a team in place with sutoms, FBI and airport police they located and identified when they re-entered through customs. Read them rights and they asked for attorney who showed up at booking.

She came to us and after speaking with them, she said something smelled fishy and she did not believe they were the offenders. She allowed them to talk to them with video present - they are not offenders they are victims.

investigation then turned with their info - they substantiated details and timelines they gave us. police substantiated their claims and timelines.

On Feb 15th after 47 of them in custody and giving us details they were released without charging, no longer as suspects but as witnesses.

Monday was a holiday, Tuesday we scheduled appointment with grand jury - with the 2 witnesses testimony prepared. Jussie's lawyers called and said they had new evidence - but it turned out they had no new info. So the grand jury proceeded and the testimony was compelling. Charges filed and we contacted Jussie's lawyer to arrange arrest. He will go to bond court judge appearance at 1:30 today.

This is just a testament to how delusional a large faction of this country has become thanks largely to the MSM. Anyone with half a brain and able to employ the slightest bit of logic and reasoning would have questioned this story from the very beginning. Of course if they did, they were ridiculed or hit with idiotic statements like "wooow, your first thought is to question the story and not condemn those actions?!l" or something similarly as stupid.

Typical to release witnesses in that case, lock in their testimony at grand jury.

No special attention, no officers pulled from any murder or other major crime or shootings. All hate crimes get the same treatment this one did.

It was staged. the brothers had on gloves, they punched him a bit. But the scratches on the face were most likely self inflicted.

Treated him like a victim, until after the brothers were released. We gave him the benefit of the doubt until it fit the crime and we had the motive. It pissed us off then.

Mr. smollett wanted it on camera, unfortunately that camera was not pointing that direction.

It was upsetting, we have been working on it for 3 weeks, we have solved several shootings and major crimes. You ll gave it more attention that it deserved. Give the other victims the same attention, this got more than it deserved because of his celebrity.

They are now witnesses to what he did, because he orchestrated this.

Because of what he did we had to invest all these resources.

He has not made a statement at this time.

We have great relationship with federal and state offices. Erroneous rumor and innuendo doesn't mean anything. It did not turn to Jussie Smollett until after the 2 days that we held the brothers and they provided details.

We have the phone records that clearly indicate they talked to each other (Smollett and brothers) before and after the incident. We know they talked an hour or so before and after the attack and while they were out of the country.

No evidence to suggest he considered other people to use for this.

one of the brothers worked on Empire. he knew he needed someone with some bulk and he knew him, thats probably why he chose them.

I've seen parts of it. It is shameful (his TV interview) to paint this city that way when he knew he made this happen... it made me angry quite honestly.

We had questions from the beginning, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt because we did not have the entire package to treat him any differently. So I was truthful when I said he was being treated as a victim.

The brothers did it because of the financial aspects. the way they carried this out there was no doubt in their minds that they would get away with this. Detectives did an incredible job tracking down stuff.

We have about 2 hours of footage and those few minutes (the attack) were not on there.

Absolute justice would be an apology to the this city that he smeared, admit to what he did and then offer up regarding all the resources used in this.
