Wtf do you think you've been experiencing for the last two years? Sorry, even in good times you do still have to work hard to prosper.
She's more than welcome to travel to Haiti or North Korea or Africa if she needs to know what a lack of prosperity looks like.

By the time I was AOC's age I owned a house and had three kids. This was in the early 90s when the economy was pretty ****ty. My mortgage was about 9%. Car loans were more than that. My house was a dump that I fixed up myself at night after work and on the weekends. Government does not provide you with prosperity. You create your own prosperity. This is what a lot of millennials don't understand (or want to understand). It's easier to throw a tantrum and demand it from the government.
No ****, one kid and another just born, good starter house in a neighborhood with a really good elementary school. Working my ass off moving up the ladder and already putting money away for 401K and starting Texas Tomorrow Funds for the kids.

Shouldn't Californians be satistified the drought is over?!

I thought the US was going to turn into a dust bowl and every reservoir was going to be empty.

Oh wait... that was Global Warming.

We are now under Climate Change, which means what ever the weather is, supports our cause.

Who thinks of shovels when the question is flooding? I honestly wonder if she could figure out which end of the shovel you stick in the dirt without Chakabarti (sic) texting her a picture

So global warming... now too much snowfall puts us at higher flood risks... arctic ice thickness at record levels.... polar bear population booming... now it's climate change...

It's almost like they just make this sh*t up to support whatever big government social agenda they are pushing at the moment

On NPR they had a Colorado Avalanche expert talking about global warming causing more and bigger Avalanches. He said in the Rockies this was the worst year in 300 years. How the **** would he know that? They just make this crap up and nobody challenges them.

Global warming "evidence" is full of non-climate experts who like to speak as if they are climate experts.

A guy who studies avalanches is now a climate expert. Like the people who study frogs and trees that we've heard from before.

Apparently anyone who may have taken an ecology class is now a climate expert.

I had a friend that worked in China a few years. He told me a story of one day the government delivered a boulder next to where he was staying. Next day, a bunch of people showed up with chipping hammers and chipped that boulder down to make a new road.

That's the philosophy of a socialist/ communist that everybody has a job. When I read "dignified jobs" it's a dog whistle for this mentality.

I went to India and at the airport to head home, I counted 17 different people who had to either look at my ticket or passport and stamp it or initial it.

I asked someone and they said that was a hold over from the British creating make work jobs. Stupidest thing....

I worked as a technician in ag research for a while. Did the farm work, computer, data gathering, etc. We had an Egyptian researcher come over for a while. He commented that my job would not have existed there. As stated above, the jobs were divided. One guy drove the tractor, one on the computer, etc. etc.

Remember the episode where the Professor had determined that the island was sinking and would soon be submerged based on a stick that he had placed at the waters edge to measure the rise? The science was settled!

Turns out Gilligan had been moving the stick farther out into the water for some reason I can't remember.

If the professor had been a climate scientist of today he would have been moving the stick farther out himself as an "adjustment" to historical readings.

As the Skipper and Professor are trying to decide what to do next, Gilligan checks the lobster traps and comes back carrying the Professor's measuring stick. It turns out he's been moving the stick into deeper water to catch bigger lobsters, rendering all their hard work a waste of time. Since the island isn't really sinking, Gilligan gets stuck cleaning the mess by himself as punishment for starting the panic.

Somewhat, but it is also a cultural thing. In a lot of third world countries, the rich are expected to hire servants. It's considered selfish if they don't "share the wealth". So the culture of hiring a bunch of low wage people instead of one that does it all and is paid well, is already in place.

I recall a family friend who was stationed in Thailand with the NSA. They didn't want servants in their house, but the embassy convinced them it would be insulting to the locals if they did not.

In-laws had the same experience managing a Round Up plant in Brazil. They kept several families sheltered and fed by employing them as servants when they would have otherwise lived in abject poverty without the American money. When they got back to the states they had to divide their time defending having servants and working for the evil corporate monster Monsanto (which employed 1000's in the St. Louis area with high paying jobs).
