Have you ever seen a nun in a bad habit?
Which is why I say alleged.Rongagin71 said:Last I heard, there was genetic evidence of a Jefferson fathering at least one black child but it was likely to have been the President's brother because he was the one documented to hang out in the slave quarters and to have given gifts (such as a guitar) to the young lady.CanyonAg77 said:

Didn't Bum chew tobacco and spit on the floor in Astrodome? I think so.
In a similar note there's a video of a 70's era football game between Alabama and Nebraska and they show Bear Bryant smoking a cigarette on the sideline during the game.
I was in the RCC working on a group programming project in 1972. It was for Consolidated's computer science class. Several of my classmates (17yo) were smoking.
I believe it. My first 1-1/2 years of high school were in Monterey, CA and we had a smoking area for the students on campus. That was 1984-85. It's incredible how much those things have changed.

Our smokers had to the field across Welsh. (Where the tennis courts are now located. Also. "Smoking in the Boy's Room" was normal.

Smoking shows how the government has no need to worry about public habits.
The social attitude of smoking changed without now oppressive regulation. Indeed, regulations started only after enough of society had changed it's attitude about smoking that the government COULD be oppressive.
Yes, the government forbid advertising (TV first, then print) - but the public changed on its own with no force being needed. The force started when smoking was below 20% of the population anyway.
It's hard to remember, but Rob and Laura Petrie smoked. Sheriff Andy smoked. Saw a pic today of Don Meridith in the locker room smoking after the 1967 NFL championship game loss. In 1982, Lamar Muse started Muse Airlines and made non-smoking - we all wondered if the airline could survive.
Get the government out of society and society does just fine.

And some priests that could put back their beer. I'm not Catholic, I'm Methodist, but our Catholic Church near my neighborhood used to have this a big festival every year that they invited everyone to and they had a beer booth.
