I would absolutely lose my chit on that plane.
I have flown over 1 million miles on commercial air and I still hate bad turbulence. It's funny because I take much great risks voluntarily all the time - many for the thrills associated with the risk.
But it's something about my inability to control or influence any of it that drives me bananas. I don't do well passively experiencing risk.
I had a plane abort the landing at Love Field when we were about 20 ft above the runway. There was a storm right over the terminal and it was like a grey wall so you couldn't even see the terminal...just our runway.
Apparently, we got some BIG crosswinds and the pilot decided to NOT land. We went back up and yawed twice about 20-30 deg while climbing.
Pilot announced we were going to fly to OKC to refuel and come back when the weather was gone.
There were a lot of people on that plane that were LOSING it...Crying, screaming, the whole gamut...Like Ron White said - Apparently, they had a LOT to live for...
I was only 19 at the time (and looked about 12), but I asked for a beer for the flight to OKC and the FA gave me one with no problem. Got drunk between there and getting back to Love...Good times!
