I would absolutely lose my chit on that plane.

I have flown over 1 million miles on commercial air and I still hate bad turbulence. It's funny because I take much great risks voluntarily all the time - many for the thrills associated with the risk.

But it's something about my inability to control or influence any of it that drives me bananas. I don't do well passively experiencing risk.

Dropped the thrust into the bucket early, flared too early while trying to find the cement, floated as a consequence and landed long. The best that can be said is he kept the crosswind correction in until after the landing was assured.

That said, he plonked it on and everybody walked away! A wizened old Braniff captain told me there are just two truths about landings:

1. All the good ones are luck;

2. We're all passengers the last five feet.
