i do believe SCOTUS ruled officers can't do neighborhood surveillance using infrared and thermal scanners for hydroponic pot farms without a warrant.

so how would drones to look over ur fence and at ur property be legal?

Infrared and thermal penetrate your home, and spy on the inside of your home.

If the Feds can use satellites to monitor domestic activities, I'm not sure how that is different than police using a drone.

However, if the drones are on your property (and you own airspace to the top of the trees), they are trespassing, and you probably need a warrant.
