Really disappointed in our Congress. Not just on this subject, but on many.

Ron Johnson says committee Republicans blocking Comey, Brennan subpoenas

Quote:

Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Chair Ron Johnson blamed fellow Republicans on his committee Wednesday for blocking him from subpoenaing former FBI Director James Comey, former CIA Director John Brennan and other figures involved in the investigation of President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign and its contacts with Russia.

"We had a number of my committee members that were highly concerned about how this looks politically," the Wisconsin GOP senator told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, who pressed Johnson to identify Republicans standing in the way of a wave of high-profile subpoenas.

Johnson emphasized that he needs the unanimous support of his committee's eight Republicans to advance any subpoenas one defection would likely result in a 7-7 deadlock with the committee's six Democrats. "If I lose one, I lose the vote," Johnson said.

Link to the audio of the interview. Hugh chewed his ass and was spot on. Republicans who've blocked his investigation should be exposed.

CBS Segment from Catherine Herridge. First time I have heard her speak. She is very well spoken, and knows her ***** She thinks the en banc will remand back to Judge Sullivan with VERY narrow instructions on how to finish the case.

Talking about the Flynn en banc, and subpoena of FBI Dir. Wray.

That poor anchor is so out of her depth.

"highly concerned about how this looks politically" = some of these Republicans are probably up to their eyeballs in what went on and just want this to die.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Comey/Brennan come in to testify and they say to the senators, "Don't some of you remember? Ya, we helped orchestrate this whole thing and some of you sitting in the conference room with us when we were planning it out."

Makes zero sense that this is being dragged out this long, unless those that are responsible for "figuring this whole thing out", were part of the scheme to begin with.

Honestly, I don't even care. Any senate testimony is a waste of time/oxygen anyway. Show me the indictments/charges or pass go. Romney remains the worst GOP senator since McStain.

WTF with Urah anyway? He seems like a carpetbagger Mormon. They couldn't find a credible local guy who wanted to be senator? I know Trump campaigned for Romney, more fool he.

Soooo... Back to this.

Johnson has the power to subpoena any of the spygate people. His Committee gave him the power. So I believe this is all on him.

I admit to being a little more interested in this thread in the last week, since revelations of all sorts have shown up here. Tuesday was particularly enlightening, for better or worse.

With the August recess, I didn't expect much in the way of new material, but I forget Congress doesn't have too much to do with Spygate and Bidengate right now, although the Belarus election yesterday might have some repercussions.

Point being, I'm been used to seeing 15 or 20 posts a day, and yesterday developed some anxiety, so to speak. I guess I just became spoiled!

The news about Brennan is wonderful, IF TRUE. Just thought I'd share, because I'm sure I'm not the only one checking the thread 2 to 3 times a day.

Carry on, and have a hell of a Thursday.

Oh, speaking of Tuesday, did anyone see Powell on Dobbs Tuesday? It's been interesting seeing someone like Powell, who was basically apolitical in her career and just did her job, to today being pushed toward conservatism because of the massive corruption on the Left.

Have no idea. Huber was Sessions' head fake. But I have a hard time believing Durham is Barr's head fake.

I don't like ragging on Brad at the last refuge/conservative treehouse, but again he's been a bit out there on some stuff (but useful at documenting a lot of other things.) His present mission to demand/give info to Durham/DoJ and then if they don't do what he wants publicly to 'go public' himself, is imho a bit off the rails.

Does anyone really think the FBI, let alone the DoJ is interested in transparency though?

Agree. He and sundance have become obsessive recently. I mean an angry rant from time to time is to be expected because of frustration but now mostly full-on rant all of the time.

(CNN)The US intelligence community assessment that Russian interference in the 2020 election favors President Donald Trump threatens to undercut his hopes that prosecutor John Durham will discredit the origins of the FBI's Russia investigation into his 2016 campaign.

Trump and allies, including Attorney General William Barr, have questioned whether the Russians showed a preference for Trump in 2016. But the US intelligence assessment released last week makes clear the Russians are doubling down on their pro-Trump efforts to undermine Joe Biden's 2020 campaign.

The shadow of election-year politics has added to the partisan circumstances surrounding the probe, which Barr at one time contemplated appointing Michael Mukasey, a former attorney general who works closely with Rudy Giuliani, the President's personal lawyer, to lead. Pressure to try to deliver at least some findings before the November election is apparent to some witnesses who have sat for interviews with Durham's investigators recently, people briefed on the interviews said.
Quote:

A grand jury in Washington's federal court, which Durham was using as part of his investigation, also has resumed work, people familiar with the matter said.

Some key interviews appear to still be in the works. Brennan and Clapper haven't met with Durham. A spokesman for Brennan said discussions for an interview have been ongoing and that one issue remains that Brennan requires access to his papers from his time at the CIA, which the Trump administration has blocked.

Remember, this is CNN.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are a couple indictments soon and they include Republicans. Barr's final statement in the interview was geared towards the same standard regardless of politics.
