Why Congress never called Deripaska to testify is beyond me, especially since he was a willing participant.
Deripaska is under sanctions and cannot be issued a visa to visit the US.
But he wasn't put under sanctions until April 2018. Mueller never interviewed Deripaska either, although he may not be permitted because of prior dealings with him.

When was Senator Warner in contact with Deripaska's lawyer, Waldman? Warner could have been the roadblock.

I also think they weighed the optics of asking a Russian oligarch with ties to Putin to be a "truth-teller" in this saga would not fly in this environment. "You believe the Rooskies over our CIA and FBI?" kind of stuff.

Turns out Deripaska wanted an immunity deal before testifying to congressional committees, and that offer was declined. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem. I'm focused on recipes and oven timing for the ham and turkey and my attention is diverted.

Deripaska has always been an intriguing character to me, too. Seems like he's the kind of guy who knows where many many bodies are buried between the GRU and Western intelligence agencies.

Not to mention arms deals done under the table by John McCain via Marc Turi that also involved the Clintons.

I notice in that article that they say trump associates "have been charged" but seem to intentionally leave out the very important details that they were charged with unrelated crimes most of which predate their relationship with the Trump campaign or administration. Infer the wrong conclusion by omission of detail.

Something that seems rather strange here- -- why is it government people can resist being seized by the law, but everyone else is arrested when a warrant is issued with comparative ease? What special immunity do these characters get that the most powerful officials seem never able to compel them to come or arrest them?

Tobias Ellwood = UK politician who met with Papadopoulos several times in September 2016.

Erica T. = Erica Thompson = political counsellor at the Australian High Commission in London and possibly some kind of an Aussie agent working with Downer; introduced Papadopoulos to Downer and was at the meeting where Papa informed Downer about the Russians having dirt on HRC.

This is a long post with new information that is important for probably explaining why certain things were done regarding the attempt to undermine the Trump Administration.

Just within the last several weeks or so, we have learned that Papadopoulos originally was likely under surveillance because of his dealings with Israel over a planned pipeline from Israeli natural gas fields thru Crete & Greece into Europe...against a competing potential pipeline from Iran thru Turkey & another from Russia thru Turkey & Macedonia. This also ties in with General Flynn's lobbying in Turkey and its potential impact on pipelines. Well, it turns out that Carter Page is not the idiot most think he is...Page has some very relevant expertise that explains why he entered the Spygate equation:

1) Page has impressive credentials regarding the huge Caspian Sea hydrocarbon resources; he's been a player, & remember his holdings in Gazprom & his dealings while in Moscow. Read this article which has received minimal exposure:

2) Russia, Iran & the other 3 nations bordering the Caspian Sea recently signed an agreement concerning territorial claims over the Caspian Sea oil/gas fields as well as control of the surface waters, excluding entry by Europe/NATO countries. These negotiations had to have been in the works for years.

Well, where the Mideast especially is concerned, and much of the more incoherent moments of foreign policy -- think of it as "follow pipelines" -- especially ones not yet built. There was even a pipeline involved in the Afghanistan troubles. It also explains the bad nations where you see something sometimes worse, but nothing is done about it. There wasn't a resource involved.

This may well explain the whole business -- it's all about oil & natural gas. As everyone knows, Obama was decidedly anti-Israel and pro-Iran, and who had been Iran's chief supporter in the ME besides Obama? Russia. For Obama's foreign policy in the ME to continue (his legacy) should Trump be elected, ongoing conflict between the US & Russia was necessary. Trump was a potential threat since he was open to negotiating better relations with Moscow. What would happen if Trump were to make deals with Russia, thereby isolating Iran from all the future oil/natural gas exploration in the ME & making the US, Russia & Saudi Arabia the major players in the world? Obama (& HRC) had to prevent this from happening should HRC lose the election. Hence the insurance policy: the 'Muh Russia' strategy. Page & Papadopoulos were easy targets to incorporate into the scheme because of their dealings in the region's oil/natural gas resources. Here is an interesting thread to read:

Make no question about it: Obama sold out the US to Iran, Soros & the Globalists.

As a side note, it's interesting that Exxon Mobil has/had it's fingers in the Caspian Sea exploration plans, & Rex Tillerson was directly involved at one time. Was that why he was selected to be SOS?

It's not what you think. A significant part of my life has been devoted to figuring out unknowns, both professionally and privately. I won't go into length to dwell on this, but regarding my recreational activities, I have always loved playing 'detective' in a very broad sense...figuring out mysteries, solving puzzles, playing mind games, etc. For instance, I have read all the Sherlock Holmes stories and watched all the associated videos...I even went to the International Sherlock Homes Exhibit at HMNS this summer with my granddaughters.
That's the way I approach this whole SpyGate affair: it's a 'mystery game', and it's fun, although admittedly it's an extremely complex game. There are so many unknowns and clues.
What did I do after Thanksgiving dinner yesterday? I played Clue with my daughter, son-in-law and 2 granddaughters.

AFTER memorizing dcrinum's post above, you mean. Because that is about exactly what is going on. Meddling in Syria, even earlier Afghanistan -- all about pipelines. The more you know about the `Great Game' that led up to World War I, the more familiar this kind of thing will be. We are in a repeat of that kind of era -- WW II analogies mis-lead--- think of the international jousting and gamesmanship, and even violent conflicts in distant places--that led up to World War I.

Whenever I play games with just my granddaughters, I make certain they manage to win about 75% of the time...that keeps their interest and makes it both challenging and fun...beating Papa. However, when my daughter plays, it's too serious because she always plays to win, even with her own children, which bugs me to no end. So yesterday I had to kick the daughter's butt at Clue.

https://nypost.com/2018/11/23/julian-assanges-indictment-may-cause-trouble-for-democrats

Quote:

The Justice Department is about to indict Julian Assange, the editor of WikiLeaks. That's according to various reports.
The Democrats are cheering because surely Assange will reveal some deep secrets about Russians and the last presidential election.
In the first place, the media of the world should be coming to Assange's defense. He was, after all, breaking news just like the press does.
But there's something else. Assange hinted prior to the election that the Russians weren't the source of all the Democratic Party e-mails he published. What if the leak was from inside the Democratic Party itself?
What if Assange's testimony, when it is forced, shows that the leaker was a disgruntled anti-Hillary Clinton Democrat who happened to be mysteriously murdered in a case that hasn't yet been solved?
That, my friends, is one of the shockers that could hit the press and the financial markets in the months ahead. The Democrats should be careful what they wish for when it comes to Assange.

Yup.

All he has to do is hint that the source of the DNC emails was actually Seth Rich and he is prepared to testify as such, and this will disappear like virgins on prom night. The last thing they want is anything that full exposes CrowdStrike's lies on the hack story.

Let us not forget that 69 gig archive he put out on a torrent a year ago that he said the encryption key would be released if something were to happen to him. That may be nothing but a bluff, but do the really want to take that chance. There are countless copies of that thing sitting around waiting on that encryption key

I betting they are going after conspiring to influence an election, and if they do the discovery will end them. By them I mean the whole Russia scam. The left only look at the short game

Conspiring to influence an election? Couldn't the same be said about Comey, Lynch, McCabe, Strzok and Page? Steele, Halper, Simpson, David Corn, Michael Isikoff?

Now, I am not saying Assange wouldn't have an uphill battle claiming he's just a publisher and should be accorded First Amendment protections, he would have such a battle. Absent such a finding, his refusal to name the sources for the materials he posts would subject him to contempt charges. But until he's actually in the States and ordered to provide that information, I'm not seeing which statutes he has violated. (Not saying it is impossible just that I don't know.)

The Brits would have to waive first shot at him, from what I understand. He could be arrested by them and hang out in Britain for a few years...or...Trump strikes a deal with PM May that he'll cover MI5, MI6 and GCHQ involvement in the Steele Dossier if they turn Assange over to us first.

(Doubt that happens.)
