Mueller files witness tampering indictment against Paul Manafort and Russian citizen Konstantin Kilimink
I'm surprised that Mueller hasn't figured out that Manafort isn't going to squeal the way that he wants him to squeal.

But given the fact that he let his people indict a ham sandwich, I'm not exactly surprised by the clumsy tactics.

So the only crimes that have been found exist ONLY because the investigation exists? Basically, no crime has been uncovered, except in Manaforts interactions with investigators?

Seems kind of like... entrapment-y... if you get what I mean.

Can they actually find a crime that happened before the investigation began? One that doesn't directly involve the investigation?

If not, it's a which hunt.

They indicted Manafort for things that occurred a decade before Trump declared his run for office.

Now that Manafort is fighting back, Mueller is getting desperate and going nuclear. This is all about keeping Manafort locked up so he can't work to defend himself.

They have to "get" him now.

This is no longer about justice. It's about ego.

And if Manafort succeeds in rubbing Mueller and his team's nose in a vat of **** in Judge Ellis's court (and manages to seriously embarrass them), they will not take it sitting down. And they're not taking it sitting down.

They have to win.

So basically they have found nothing related to the original pretense of the investigation, the campaign working with Russians. So they come up crimes akin to the single charge of "resisting arrest" where the crime wouldn't exist if the arrest wasn't attempted.

Update:

On June 4, 2018, Weissman filed a notice of the motion to revoke Manafort's pre-trial release in the E.D. Va. case. I am now fully convinced that they are doing whatever they can to paint Manafort in a bad light or to keep Ellis from ****ting all over them.

This has been my experience as well. But I am an old and so are the handful of liberal friends I have. They tend to have back stories that have influenced their political outlook. Most of them are the old granola-enjoy nature types. I could not deal with the new SJW type of liberal. I just couldn't.
My observation has been that, for the most part, they are/were misfits growing up; made fun of, picked last, not invited to parties, social outcasts. Now they are angry adults acting revenge by vote and want to see America burn.

There is a sad evil lurking in the heart of every liberal.
The fact that he just died sorta takes care of part of the problem

In all seriousness, every lib I know has a deep unrelenting sadness and discontent to them. An anger for just being born. It is a spiritual condition more than anything.

Since liberalism obviously isn't grounded in fact or logic, there has to be another source. While we can't know individually what drives a person, I can sure recognize the symptoms.

Through my layman study of psychology I think it's a result of feelings of inadequacy and looking for someone else to blame. And comparing oneself too much to other people and seeking social approval. It's surprising how common this type of mindset is. It is mentioned in someway in every psychology related text I have read, even advertising and marketing psychology play on these human tendencies. Especially feelings of guilt seem to be at the root of many psychological issues and human behaviors.

I think this is why the Christian worldview can be so transformative. The concept of being forgiven, being "born again", not fearing judgement, recognizing and reconciling evil, etc.

I'm currently reading "12 rules for life" by Jordan Peterson and he has a section devoted to his interpretation of the Genesis creation story and it was a delightful and elegant metaphor for the tendency of man to feel inadequate (Adam and Eve hiding from God once being aware of their nakedness). He goes on in great detail how feelings of inadequacy can cripple someone's decision making in ways that defy logic. He exposes the logical failings of our rationalizations with the questions he poses.

I don't believe every liberal suffers from these feelings of guilt, shame, inadequacy, however you want to say it. Only the ones that are 'triggered', play the victim, and act hateful towards their political critics. And it's not limited to liberals, some conservatives suffer from this too.

The identifying trait I believe is the victimhood mindset. The woe is me attitude. While that lends itself more to liberal politics, and while I believe far more liberals suffer this psychological condition, there are conservatives who also suffer from woe is me and not all liberals behave this way.

The liberals I maintain relations with, who are my friends, are not victims, are not triggered by disagreements, don't name call, they are for he most part successful and accountable individuals. Maybe their political views are ever slight virtue signals or just they fall for emotional appeals, or maybe due to their agnosticism they look to the collective in the form of government.

The American Constitution Society issued a call to arms to oppose President Donald Trump at its annual convention in Washington this week.

At a welcome dinner kicking off the convention on Thursday evening, ACS president Caroline Fredrickson, ACS president, implored attendees to recruit others to join the resistance spearheaded by the leading progressive legal organization.

"I really cannot convey with more fervor that all lawyersprogressive, middle-of-the-road, conservativeall lawyers nationwide need to speak out now about the importance of the rule of law and democracy, and I promise you that I would be saying the same thing if a Democrat was acting like the president we have today," Fredrickson said. "We are calling on members of the legal profession to pledge to resist President Trump's attacks on the rule of law."

Fredrickson urged attendees to sign and circulate a letter pledging resistance to Trump within their firms, state and local bar associations, and at law schools.

Sally Yates, the former deputy U.S. attorney fired by Trump, delivered a keynote address Thursday urging members to go on the offensive and "think of the perseverance of public servants who go to work every day, now derided as the 'deep state' or 'swamp creatures,' who have in fact dedicated their professional lives to making our country better."

Yates, who returned to Big Law last month as partner at King & Spalding, told the crowd, "This is not a time to be passive."

"Today we are met with an almost daily barrage of attempts to order up investigations of former political rivals, intervention on behalf of friends, relentless attempts to sow distrust of the FBI and the Department of Justice, direction to investigate the investigators, and the most recent declaration that our laws do not apply to the president, which must have TomThomas Paine spinning in his grave right now," Yates said. "This is not how it works. The rule of law is what separates us from an autocracy."

The ACS' annual convention is a chance for left-leaning lawyers from across the country to network with leading progressives in Washington. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor is speaking at the conference on Friday afternoon.
