There is a sad evil lurking in the heart of every liberal.
The fact that he just died sorta takes care of part of the problem

In all seriousness, every lib I know has a deep unrelenting sadness and discontent to them. An anger for just being born. It is a spiritual condition more than anything.

Since liberalism obviously isn't grounded in fact or logic, there has to be another source. While we can't know individually what drives a person, I can sure recognize the symptoms.

Through my layman study of psychology I think it's a result of feelings of inadequacy and looking for someone else to blame. And comparing oneself too much to other people and seeking social approval. It's surprising how common this type of mindset is. It is mentioned in someway in every psychology related text I have read, even advertising and marketing psychology play on these human tendencies. Especially feelings of guilt seem to be at the root of many psychological issues and human behaviors.

I think this is why the Christian worldview can be so transformative. The concept of being forgiven, being "born again", not fearing judgement, recognizing and reconciling evil, etc.

I'm currently reading "12 rules for life" by Jordan Peterson and he has a section devoted to his interpretation of the Genesis creation story and it was a delightful and elegant metaphor for the tendency of man to feel inadequate (Adam and Eve hiding from God once being aware of their nakedness). He goes on in great detail how feelings of inadequacy can cripple someone's decision making in ways that defy logic. He exposes the logical failings of our rationalizations with the questions he poses.

I don't believe every liberal suffers from these feelings of guilt, shame, inadequacy, however you want to say it. Only the ones that are 'triggered', play the victim, and act hateful towards their political critics. And it's not limited to liberals, some conservatives suffer from this too.

The identifying trait I believe is the victimhood mindset. The woe is me attitude. While that lends itself more to liberal politics, and while I believe far more liberals suffer this psychological condition, there are conservatives who also suffer from woe is me and not all liberals behave this way.

The liberals I maintain relations with, who are my friends, are not victims, are not triggered by disagreements, don't name call, they are for he most part successful and accountable individuals. Maybe their political views are ever slight virtue signals or just they fall for emotional appeals, or maybe due to their agnosticism they look to the collective in the form of government.

ETA: I have long advocated for the reporters receiving and publishing the leaks be hauled in. Refuse to answer? Sit in jail and think about it.

That's shakier ground for me. Unless there was malicious intent or another crime committed by the journalist, they should probably stay out of jail. Seize all the notes and records you want though. A crime was committed and that is valid evidence against the leaker.

This has been my experience as well. But I am an old and so are the handful of liberal friends I have. They tend to have back stories that have influenced their political outlook. Most of them are the old granola-enjoy nature types. I could not deal with the new SJW type of liberal. I just couldn't.

In this day and age they can get the info from the accused's electronic devices without having to get the reporter's stuff.

I'm just excited someone is finally being prosecuted for illegal leaks. Keep 'em coming. Clapper to Tapper at CNN, Comey to Richman to the NYT, McCabe, etc.

But by taking the reporters communication logs they can find new suspects. Maybe joe blow was feeding her info but wasn't on their radar before.

Also, maybe she was selling info to foreign actors.... you want to know the extent of the classified escapes who may have accessed the info.

Good. Hope there are some big names on that list. Thanks for the thread about July 27, 2017, BTW. I had a few quibbles with it as I don't think Wray was running the Manafort raid, Mueller was.

I am beginning to think Papadop believed he had been tasked to do something in particular by elements in the Obama Administration. That's why when he was arrested he was so freaked out his lawyers had to calm him down. The question becomes whose payroll was he the beneficiary of. Was Halper funneling money through his lucrative DOD contracts? Someone else?

Excellent point. Had not considered that. Allege violations of the Espionage Act to get the search warrants??

She seems pretty ditzy, would be an easy target for experienced foreign intel officers.

Out of (say) 10,000 random voters, D's and R's are statistically easy to profile with probably 95% accuracy based on answers to just 8 questions:
  • Address?
  • Race?
  • Sex?
  • Age?
  • Marital Status?
  • Income?
  • Education?
  • Employer?

Oh, Ellis, I didn't mean to disparrage you, or your fellow horn faithful, by comparing DWS with the burnt orange.

That's a poor comparison, and cast you, and the horn faithful in a horrible light. Comparing anyone to DWS is similar to whale ****, and that's at the bottom of the ocean!!
Hate is how progressives sustain themselves. Without hate, introspection begins to slip into the progressive's consciousness, threatening the progressive with the truth: that their ideas and opinions are illogical, hypocritical, dangerous, and asinine.
This is backed by data.

Leakers Beware

An old article (SIAP?). But if you haven't seen it, I suggest to read the entire thing.

Quote:

President Trump has defeated Democrats in the intelligence community (IC) who were leaking classified information to the press. Such leaks have been a problem for many presidents, but Trump is the first who took a proactive approach and set up a sting operation that identified the leakers. It's highly illegal to leak classified information. It's also illegal to PUBLISH this information, but Trump is too smart to try and prosecute reporters.

I thought that Trump would fire members of the IC until the leaks stopped, but the president solved the problem with a much more imaginative and deadly approach: He fed the IC false information. When this information was published, Trump was able to identify individual leakers.

How?

Each group or individual who leaked was given a different version of events. This is CLASSIC spycraft. If nine individuals are told nine different stories, and then each of those stories is published, you know the identity of each person who talked to the press.

It's called a "barium meal," after the medical test used to detect problems in the gastrointestinal tract. Soft tissues don't show up on X-rays. Barium salts are "radio-opaque," meaning that they show up in a radiograph or X-ray.

I find it disconcerting that all these people are mourning this Bourdain character, who took the easy way out selfishly, and he is a man that has fought every inch of the way, and has basically written his own Eulogy with dignity and selflessness.
