...The seizure disclosed in a letter to the reporter, Ali Watkins -- suggested that prosecutors under the Trump administration will continue the aggressive tactics employed under President Barack Obama....
A prosecutor notified Ms. Watkins on Feb. 13 that the Justice Department had years of customer records and subscriber information from telecommunications companies, including Google and Verizon, for two email accounts and a phone number of hers. Investigators did not obtain the content of the messages themselves. The Times learned on Thursday of the letter, which came from the national security division of the United States attorney's office in Washington.
The records covered years' worth of Ms. Watkins's communications before she joined The Times in late 2017 to cover federal law enforcement. During a seven-month period last year for which prosecutors sought additional phone records, she worked for Buzzfeed News and then Politico reporting on national security.
Shortly before she began working at The Times, F.B.I. agents approached Ms. Watkins seeking information about a previous three-year romantic relationship with James A. Wolfe, the Senate Intelligence Committee's former director of security, saying they were investigating unauthorized leaks.
She did not answer their questions. Mr. Wolfe stopped performing committee work in December and retired in May.
Mr. Wolfe was not a source of information for Ms. Watkins during their relationship, she said, adding that she told editors at Buzzfeed News and Politico about it and continued to cover national security, including the committee's work. Ben Smith, the editor of Buzzfeed News, declined to comment. Politico did not immediately respond to a request for comment....

Going after James Rosen and Sharyl Attkisson for researching Barry corruption is a lot different than the DOJ investigation of a reporter leaking classified information from pillow talk from her bedTruckGuy said:
The left has their talking points together and it's spreading across twitter already. "When Obama did it, the right lost their minds."
So my question is, how exactly is this different from when the Obama admin went after journalist for their sources?

Probably started with his communications on government issued device(s) and then led to her.Quote:
Thank you. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. I mean if your romantic partner is under investigation for leaking, and you're a "journalist" reporting on DC, seems kinda automatic that they are going to look into you.

Washington (CNN) One of the Russians who was in touch with Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos throughout 2016 told CNN he was willing to open doors for the campaign, and broker meetings with Russian officials, only to see the "unprofessional" young aide disappear from his radar.
The comments from Russian foreign policy analyst Ivan Timofeev, shed new light on how Papadopoulos repeatedly tried but failed to arrange a Russia trip for himself or other aides working for President Donald Trump's campaign.
"We did not close the door to the guy, but we did not take it seriously," Timofeev told CNN earlier this year in his Moscow office. "He was very enthusiastic. He was very interested in Russia and improving relations, but he seemed to be so unprofessional and so unprepared for a serious conversation."

She's only a badass if she nails the Awans and gets upstream. DWS would look great in an orange jumpsuit. (Okay, she'll never look great but orange is in her color wheel.)

I wonder if Netflix has begun casting for the DNC hack/Hillary email server/Russia collusion/Spygate drama series?
