But is it presented to these judges by a lawyer, or by senior officials?

Yup! The Memo is only the tip of the iceberg. We knew, thanks to The Last Refuge & the declassified FISA Court document, that contractors were performing 702 Queries at the FBI in April, 2016, well before the FISA warrant on Carter Page. I guess this won't come out until the OIG Report.

Nellie Ohr likely fingered as the contractor via Fusion GPS performing the 702 Queries.

Now we understand the basis for Grassley referring Chris Steele for criminal indictment.
I wonder if this could fall under:

Carter Page Says He's Updating Lawsuits Thanks To FISA Memo's Release

Mr. Page released this statement, which seems to indicate that he might bring legal action against the Department of Justice:
Quote:

The brave and assiduous oversight by Congressional leaders in discovering this unprecedented abuse of process represents a giant, historic leap in the repair of America's democracy. Now that a few of the misdeeds against the Trump Movement have been partially revealed, I look forward to updating my pending legal action in opposition to the DOJ this weekend in preparation for Monday's next small step on the long, potholed road toward helping to restore law and order in our great country.
Page had filed lawsuits against Yahoo! and The Huffington Post in September of 2017:
Quote:

Former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page filed a defamation lawsuit against Yahoo and the Huffington Post on Thursday over a story that said he was under investigation for meeting Russian officials who meddled in the election.
In the Manhattan Federal Court suit, filed by Page himself, he charges that on Sept. 23, 2016 Yahoo "published a highly misleading article filled with false allegations."
That Yahoo! article by Michael Isikoff was used to further make the case for the FISA warrant against Page.

Well, well. Another name on Grassley's list where he requested all communications...a Fusion GPS employee linked to Yahoo News & Isikoff.
Perhaps Steele didn't give the dossier directly to Isikoff or brief him about it...Sears did. I wonder if there are other Fusion GPS employees with direct links to news organizations besides the owners who were former WSJ employees?

According to Fox News, who seems to give Pencil Neck Schiff endless airtime, that this is obstruction of justice by Nunes and Trump and if they attempt to touch Rosenstein, it will trigger criminal charges.

This is real important because... If they had reason to extend it and actual new info that backs it up, then it sort f (but not really) supports the initial warrant. At least the FBI would spin it that way. IF no NEW supporting info was presented for the FISA extensions then...holy hell, the process is broken and to me at least would seem illegal.

STATEMENT BY SASC CHAIRMAN JOHN McCAIN ON PARTISAN ATTACKS ON THE FBI & DOJ
Washington, D.C. U.S. Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, released the following statement on partisan attacks on the FBI and Department of Justice:

"In 2016, the Russian government engaged in an elaborate plot to interfere in an American election and undermine our democracy. Russia employed the same tactics it has used to influence elections around the world, from France and Germany to Ukraine, Montenegro, and beyond. Putin's regime launched cyberattacks and spread disinformation with the goal of sowing chaos and weakening faith in our institutions. And while we have no evidence that these efforts affected the outcome of our election, I fear they succeeded in fueling political discord and dividing us from one another.

"The latest attacks on the FBI and Department of Justice serve no American interests no party's, no president's, only Putin's. The American people deserve to know all of the facts surrounding Russia's ongoing efforts to subvert our democracy, which is why Special Counsel Mueller's investigation must proceed unimpeded. Our nation's elected officials, including the president, must stop looking at this investigation through the warped lens of politics and manufacturing partisan sideshows. If we continue to undermine our own rule of law, we are doing Putin's job for him."

I wonder if the above is really McCain and not one of his surrogates. He has been secluded for months now and likely must be in Hospice due to his brain cancer, and that mean serious pain/sedation type meds.

Quote:

Wray's New Pick for FBI General Counsel Signed Tainted FISA Warrant Application While Acting Attorney General

FBI Director Christopher Wray replaced embattled FBI top lawyer James Baker with Dana Boente to take over as general counsel just days ago.

But that was before Boente's name was divulged publicly by the House Intel FISA memo showing Boente signed one of the FISA applications that has since been proven problematic and chock full of phony information posing as intelligence to seemingly trick approval from the FISA court to surveil Donald Trump and his team members.

Boente may have to step down form his new FBI post. But Wray would have known this before hiring Boente, so why did he hire him? Perhaps Boente's name was one of the names Wray was lobbying the White House to redact.

Perhaps Wray hasn't been on the job long enough to learn who are the black hats and who are the white hats. That may explain his apparent conflict over release of the Memo in unreacted form.

By listening to Wallace, with Smith cheering him on, it's apparent that the main argument is basically:

1. This may not be the whole truth because we don't have the supporting evidence. In other words, this isn't the whole story.

2. Further FISA warrant approval, following the initial approval, indicates they found something to support subsequent approval.

3. It's a convenient political ploy by the president with the House republicans helping Trump distract the public when Mueller is knocking on his door.

4. We all need to see the Democratic memo to have both sides of the story.

5. There are other FBI sources that are not permissible to be revealed which legitimizes their actions. This is why they were objecting to memo.

Ah, So that explains the FBIs omissions to the court regarding the conflict of interest and political nature of their intelligence source.
