So the third prosecutor steps down. If there was any legitimate reason to support their recommendation, that wouldn't be happening.

No, it is a play to try and make the Barr DOJ look political in an attempt to paint any of the prosecution of the coup plotters as political revenge. Schumer is already screaming about this.

Remember the Intel meeting after the Trump election. Do you not think the Dem side of the gang of 8 were not involved and thus fully part of the coup?

Know what "Honest Bob" didn't do?

Wind down his investigation when they knew both the Steele 'Dossier', and the "black ledger" were fake.

He also never offered any evidence, at all, of Trump campaign coordination with Russia.

He also never proactively got rid of leftist partisans like...sztrok page etc. until their nefarious communications became a public threat.

He also never came clean about Trump providing all of the documents requested.

He also never investigated the fake setup with Papadopolous or Mifsud or for that matter Flynn who was related to the FBI counter-intel fake-crimes counter-intelligence operation.

He also never even heard of Fusion GPS per his own testimony.

Bob Mueller is a senile American disgrace, whose fear of islamophobia and love of power helped bring down the one time greatest law enforcement agency in the world, which now is a burning rubble of trash looked on with scorn.

A second attempt to manufacture an article of impeachment based on a situation created solely by Trump and DOJ's Dem enemies.

If Schumer and Pelosi want to call Barr for a public hearing regarding this, they should have second thoughts. Barr unleashed with a full head of steam over being lied to and set up will not be a pretty sight for Dems. And remember Barr has those prosecutors' phone and email records. Any and I mean any contact between Dem members of the Senate or House and any one them, will be revealed as another coup attempt.

One last thing to note- attorneys can't just quit their representation as a litigant in a case (but tbh, I don't do criminal work). If the judge had any scruples, my first sua sponte order would be to set a hearing and ask why these prosecutors want to quit immediately after filing a sentencing memorandum that misses the guidelines by almost a full order of magnitude.

True. And if the Judge (Amy Berman Jackson) was so inclined, she could make life very unfun for those prosecutors but she hates Trump, so doubt she will.

Stone, Flynn and the Internet Research cases are the only Mueller cases still on the docket*, if I'm not mistaken.

Internet Research case has been on shaky ground from the get-go. I still think it gets dismissed at some point.

* GRU indictment is out there but no defendants have appeared to refute the charges. So essentially a dead case.

Ok. I haven't been clear. I am thinking they are screaming politics on this so they can then scream it louder if cases come out of Durham's investigation, or now Pittsburgh.

They can scream all they want. Assuming the indictments being handed down are solid, really doesn't matter.

That's one of the myriad of things the Dems never considered, actual legal blowback for their acts. I guess they always believed that once Trump was removed, Pence would be too cowed to return fire. Or they could get him too.

TDS is now at the mental illness classification level of psychotic breaks with reality. Just incredible their tunnel vision has blinded them to the consequences of their own actions. At this point, there is not a single Team Mueller member who can credibly claim they were motivated to get to the truth. It was all about trying to goad Trump into obstructing justice to support impeachment. They failed in that effort.

Now it is time to pay the piper.

How would this come back to bite Barr? I see people saying it could become some sort of scandal?
Because Barr is going to put new prosecutors in now and change the recommendation.

These two guys told the DOJ one thing, then filed another as a big FU to Trump & Co.

So now Barr will have to fix the mess and be accused of interfering.
This.

Manufactured story for the fake news to express outrage, predict the end of democracy and our justice system for a few days. Very s***ty thing to do to your boss.
Okay, due to the fact of my extreme expansion of knowledge from so many here, I feel like Trump, et al, have been continually maligned, picked on, and cheated by the opposition, which most here would likely agree. That statement is an easy answer when looking at impeachment, Trump's own choice of a few cabinet members (McMaster and our original AG) and so many other petty actions by the Dems.

My question is surely this has happened before, at least as far as this sentencing is concerned? The Stone sentencing recommendation will barely be a pebble in the lake, and these petty, vindictive *******s can't wait to high five their faithful.

There had to be petty legal issues with Kennedy, Nixon, LBJ (quite vindictive), Ford, and even Reagan. As much economics as I've always championed, I never really understood the inner workings of the DOJ/FBI, or even the State Department. There has got to be a few obscene sentencing recommendations in the past. I always thought Scooter Libby got screwed, but maybe not.
Hate is how progressives sustain themselves. Without hate, introspection begins to slip into the progressive's consciousness, threatening the progressive with the truth: that their ideas and opinions are illogical, hypocritical, dangerous, and asinine.
This is backed by data.

Scooter Libby definitely got screwed but that was Pat Fitzgerald, a Special Prosecutor, not W's DOJ.

And Fitzgerald (Comey buddy and current lawyer for him) knew before his seat got warm that it was Richard Armitage, Colin Powell's aide, who was the leaker. Didn't stop him from his witch hunt to hurt VP Cheney. Scooter got caught in the cross-fire.

So Liu resigned as US Attorney and then DJT withdrew her nomination and so she's now "out on the street"? Am I understanding that sequence of events correctly OR was her nomination withdrawn and she remains a US Attorney?

Not going there, just yet. Instead what I think happened is that Durham's original focus, how Crossfire Hurricane happened uncovered enough Ukraine crap that he asked Barr for help in tracking that stuff down.

Rudy got the ball rolling but Durham is eyes deep into something else and couldn't afford the manpower to go down that road.

Hence, a new US Attorney is assigned to it. Someone Barr trusts to do it correctly.

She should have never gone along Van Grack's misconduct. No way she failed to grasp what the situation was. I snapped to the massive conflict Covington, Burling had very quickly when public reports came out.

She knew about the exact situation on the ground long before I ever had a clue from public sources as to how Flynn was done a severe disservice from his former counsel.

The sad face is because I really loved the law. Suited me. But the professional left the profession a long time ago.

More like Barr and Durham, I think. If she was asked the questions being advocated on Conservative Treehouse, for example, her answers could impact an on-going grand jury investigation.

Best guess, right now.

It clearly looks like a staged action to force Barr's hand and goad Trump into correcting the out of line sentencing.

I prefer to find optimistic views out of crappy circumstances, and there's got to be some kind of sunshine to your past profession. I LOVED the Georgetown law professor on Levin on Sunday night. Show in, and show out, Levin has the best interviews on the tele,, to quote the English.

BTW, if you haven't seen that show from last Sunday night, do what you can to watch it. You'll thoroughly enjoy it.

I can figure out a lot of what y'all say, but in this case, can you enlighten me?

Will the implications be good, or bad? And if Liu was going to be confirmed in front of the Senate, Barr HAD to have known certain questions would be asked, so why now? It sounds Liu shouldn't have been nominated to start with.
