Reading the cbs article I get the idea campos was up there first. It says he peaked around a corner and told the guy to get down.

I think the hotel got notified by Campos and the maintenance man that one of their Whales was shooting up the hallway, and instead of immediately alerting police, the hotel hesitated and maybe thought they could handle it internally.
Oh come the **** on

Well, we have MB maintenance on tape telling MB dispatch to call police. Did MB call police? I don't know.

And where else would investigators get initial timeframe details about what time hotel employees came in to contact with the shooter and how many days the shooter had been checked in?? That all had to have come from the hotel.

In fact, the hotel (at least MGM) is still questioning the new timeframe of both shooters stay and contact with shooter.

Yes, I didn't mean to imply they went up together, but I bet there is video of them going up so that police have a good idea when each of them headed up.

So originally it was said Campos called down to security now it's the maintenance man. Maybe both but who really knows.

Yeah, I have heard the radio of maintenance man (Schuck) calling his hotel dispatch and have heard his version of what happened. Have not heard from Campos.

My problem with your post is that the hotel would try to handle a guest of theirs firing 200 rounds into the hallway internally. That's insane

Surely he lawyered up before talking to FBI, and if he did, I am prettty sure his lawyer would have told him to keep his dumb face off of TV. Dont expect to hear anything else from him.

And I wonder why, he is sitting on bank and he hasn't been interviewed. Hell nobody knew about the maintenance guy till he spoke out. I never knew he was there.

Well obviously they didn't know he fired 200 rounds at the time. They didn't know he had an arsenal of guns in his room.

They got a radio call from a maintenance man that said "someone is shooting a rifle down the hall on 32, end of the hallway. Call the police."

I didn't mean to imply that the hotel was gonna try to take out a gunman internally. I meant they wanted to check out WTF was going on before they called the cops.

In hindsight the hesitation looks bad, so they tried to alter the timeline.
GCP12

Maybe I have the timeline off(but who doesn't) but wasn't the security guard already shot at this point? I just don't see how anyone would have thought about doing anything without calling the police first.
unmade bed
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, but at least from the recordings I heard the maintenance man doesn't say that Campos is shot to the dispatcher. He just says someone is shooting rifle at end of hall on 32, call the cops.

Obviously if the front desk at the College Station Hilton gets a call like that, they are gonna immediately call the cops. A casino in Vegas, I don't know??
GCP12

Fair enough. If that's what happened, whoever didn't listen to the maintenance guy needs to be fired at a minimum.

It's Vegas. They deal with ODs, hookers getting the crap beat out them, drug deals gone wrong pretty often, I would imagine. A guest shooting a gun in a suite wouldn't prompt the immediate conclusion that, "OMG! He's going to break windows and start firing thousands of bullets on the crowd below and blow up the fuel tanks at the airport! Call S.W.A.T.!!"

Hotel security is competent but they aren't mind-readers. And if the suite in question is booked by a known highroller?

GCP12

All of that is fair. I just think a guy firing a fully auto rifle through the hallway is a different deal than a drug deal gone wrong or a dead hooker.

I'm squarely in the anti-conspiracy camp. It's difficult to respond to much of what's going on because there doesn't seem to be a cogent conspiracy theory - just a bunch of "that seems weird" and "this doesn't add up." Stipulated: there are lots of questions we do not yet have answers to. And by "we", I mean TexAgs or the public at large. We have access to very few actual facts and have no idea what the investigators know. I assume they have answers to many of the questions that have been raised here, and probably don't have answers to some. At least not yet. Despite that, however, I just think jumping to grand government coverup or international criminal enterprise is foolhearted and without basis in fact. Could that be proven to be true at some point? I suppose, but given the fact that conspiracy theories almost never pan out, it's safe to bet against them.

I have some experience in investigations that receive public attention (obviously nothing 1/10,000th of this). In my experience, there is a constant tension between getting info to the public quickly and being cautious that you are being 100% accurate. Sometimes, you think something is right, but later evidence proves you were wrong, and you have to go correct that. On top of that, the media mangles the facts pretty regularly. Mix all that together with incompetence and standard human error, and you get a pretty muddy picture, which makes it difficult for me to extrapolate too much from the limited facts we have.

And it's not like everyone was looking at synchronized watches throughout and documenting who did what and when. Of course the exact timeline is hard to pin down.

This in and of itself is troubling. Why is Campos lawyering up and why is he staying out of the media?

If he actually did what was reported, EXTENSIVELY, then he would be on Good Morning America, Oprah, The View, and on and on. He would be a circus sideshow with a Lee Greenwood song as his entry music.

Everything about this debacle is suspect. Now the maintenance man is the hero?!?! Give. Me. A. ****ing. Break.

I don't think it was a grand government cover up. I think a crime was committed and somebody with leverage is manipulating the narrative.

You can't possibly tell me that you don't have doubts.

Lol Idk what you did in Vegas, but I'd rather stay at a hotel that's at least mildly disturbed by a fully auto rifle being shot through their hallways.

With these guys being on that same floor, it should be very easy to at least get the order of their events ironed out.

Why would the Sheriff originally call this guy a hero, saying he possibly prevented more casualties by interrupting the gunman during the shooting, but now they are the security guard was shot 6 min before the shooting even started?

Also, in that same presser - the sheriff repeated a few times something along the lines of "our guys were in the stairwell right behind the security guard, it didn't take them long at all" wouldn't they have heard the gunman's 10-12 minutes shooting spree?

Cops haven't stated if they received a call from the hotel staff.

Still, how do Campos and Maintenance man not call 911 themselves?

That's entirely possible. There is a large community online of Urban Explorers (urbex). People basically trespass on skyscrapers, abandoned property like old factories, homes, insane asylums, castles, etc. They take pictures and post them online. People are always trying to one up each other.

Well where else did investigators get the details from?

Who told investigators his check in date was the 28th?? You think the hotel told them accurately and investigators just tried to come forward with a later date??

Same on time frame. Who would have told investigators when the security guard went up to the 32nd floor and encouraged gunmen?

How did the single hero become not the hero with a partner who was the one who actually called it in? I understand them not calling 911 they're hiding from a guy with a gun. They probably figured the hotel staff would get the hint.

I'm assuming they interviewed both of these guys. Did they not ask them questions like, "hey, did you hear a **** ton of gunfire before or after the man with the gun shot you?" They would've had both the hotel's time and the time from the guard and maintenance man's account. Are you suggesting the hotel got to the maintenance man and the guard befoe the fbi interviewed them and told them to lie? That sounds like a conspiracy to me

Maybe. But what if the tumor was about .357 in diameter and got pushed out of the skull very quickly by some lead?

Hotel could be hinding something, such as not promptly calling 911 to report a shooter, for fear of legal liability?

Why would Hotel hide the check in date?

None of this changing timeline make sense.

Did the hotel call 911 or not? What exactly did Campos and the maintenance guy see and do. Those details haven't been made public.
