Where have you read that he shot at local police? I've never seen that. Just that he shot the guard and then he was dead when his door was breached. Nothing I've seen disproves the conspiracy theory about the security guard. And it's really weird if he actuallly did have a ton of gun powder residue on him.

yeah no i've read a lot and no account indicates he shot at police when they arrived. only he shot the guard and then when police arrived they said firing had stopped already. which is why they waited for SWAT to breach the door.

I just drove past Mandalay Bay not even fifteen minutes ago and it is packed. It's also in the best part of Vegas for development right now because the new stadium for the Raiders is going up right across the freeway. Mandalay will be one of the closest properties to a new multi billion dollar stadium, and it is located on the side of the strip where basically all of the new development will be pushing in the coming years. As for the concert venue, it's literally just an empty field across from Mandalay. It was never anything to begin with. I don't see how it can be used for a concert again, but that's mostly irrelevant because the land itself is amazingly valuable. As for Mandalay though, there is basically a zero percent chance of it not recovering from this completely. It's just not going to happen.

I thought one of the reports was that the local police were there when the guard was shot. Maybe that was an early erroneous report.

I imagine that if it were even remotely true that the guard's story is going to fall apart fairly quickly. Surely there are cameras at the hotel that would show his activity leading up to the shooting.

Right. I would stay at Mandalay tomorrow without a second thought. I'd even stay in the room next door. Maybe not the shooter's suite, but that's it. And I'm sure plenty of people would stay in it.

Read a report where the shooter used a electronic jamming device that would take down the casino cams.

I wonder if the design of the stadium will be adjusted of double-checked to make sure it cannot be fired into from a hotel. Some of the new stadiums are very "open air" so to speak

I'd have no problem staying in hotel, but probably wouldn't want to be anywhere near specific room.

I've wondered that myself, W. It is across the freeway, so it would be a much longer shot than across Las Vegas Boulevard, but your point is a good one. It will be interesting to see how they handle that.

I'm skeptical of that. The only place I have seen a jamming device mentioned is the site linked a bit ago. I have a hard time imagining it would take down a very large area even if that claim is accurate so there should be camera footage of the guard leading up to the shooting.

If they kicked them around they would have rolled into the blood verse just being on top of it like that. That blood is coagulated so to me those fell on it or it went around it.

Very likely. When they swarmed in after breaching the door, no way they're going to be concerned where they step. It's all about getting inside and neutralizing the threat.

Would they have even tested the security guard for gun powder since he was only a victim? Anyone know the delay in the security guard getting there and the first police?

He would have had to have timed it perfectly, and why not take credit? Doubt shoot him differently and be the hero that stopped it all. To many holes in the theory. (No pun intended)

actually I've stayed there and was extremely disappointed. My room had no hot water for the first two days I was there and despite my complaints they did nothing about it. Plus this place blows anytime but summer since they shut down everything outside except one tiny pool.

But hey, Pete Rose sits and signs autographs in there in between molesting girls, so there's that.

interesting. i've stayed there multiple times and always had a great experience, but i guess most of them were during the summer.

Well not right there....not where the concert was.

The stadium will be across I-15 which is on the WEST side of MB a couple of blocks away.

Basically where you see this large plot of land next to the freeway. MB is off to the right on the strip of course.

Yeah stadium has nothing to do with it.

Mandalay and Luxor are my two least favorite strip casinos. Luxor left me in a corner room where the average temp was 90 degrees and Mandalay put me in a room with no hot water.

That being said, if I was a terrorist POS like this guy I go Mandalay, I get collaborators in first responder uniforms to assist, and I GTFO. Probably send a plane up with a patsy while I drive away in a taurus.

Of course, this guy may have been the patsy.

Attendance really doesn't matter anymore in the NFL. These guys can sell suites to casinos and get TV revenue and be fine.

Only thing that surprises me is why the NFL signed off on it since Las Vegas brings sh*t for TV eyeballs and therefore revenue. But Vegas is dirty as they come so I don't know what happened behind the scenes.

MB isn't that bad. I've stayed there many times. I'd put it in the 2nd Tier of 3... Maybe 3rd Tier of 4.

Right after college (mid-90s), we'd make pilgrimages to Vegas right before March Madness. Imperial Palace is where we'd stay. Asked a cabbie if that was the worst dump, he said, "No. Circus Circus, but it is a close 2nd."

Treasure Island is a dump. If I'm going to an event at the Venetian, and can't find anything there (Palazzo\Venizia), I'll stay at TI for proximity and you can stay there for like $75/night last minute.

I'd put MB over Bally's/Harrahs which I'd put over TI. I think Caesars is very overrated and could put it eithere with MB or Bally's/Harrahs. There isn't a tremendous gap between the mid-tier.

I think I've been in the Lynq, which "replace" IP. IIRC, they put a new facade on it, but didn't tear it down. The original plan was to tear it down and rebuild, but that was when the Aladdin was struggling (and IIRC it went into bankruptcy), so I think they just painted it and put a facade around it. Seems like I had to go in there to pee once and I could still smell the smoke and fermented alcohol in the carpet that was there from the '90s. I was **Triggered!**

Have to disagree with ya on The Linq. My girlfriend and I just stayed there for 5 days. Dealers are very friendly (one of them was telling his undercard in blackjack lol) Was also very shocked as the smoke usually kills me in casinos but it was not smoky whatsoever. Maybe they've cleaned it up a little since
