I worked a guy who swallowed a .357. When we arrived he was trying to talk, but it's pretty difficult to talk with your most your mandible missing.

Seen .22 in the face and end up lodged in the hip.

I haven't read the whole thread but you guys don't really believe this 60+ year old guy who was living in a nursing home got dozens of weapons up to the 32nd floor (some of which must be illegal since it sounded like an automatic weapon)

AND

where's all the footage from all the hundreds of Vegas hotel cameras everywhere

AND finally

there are no gunfire sparks coming from the 32nd floor, it comes from about the 12th floor when video'd from outside on several phone cameras

This guy was probably a patsy ... 60+ years with no criminal record of any kind ... is so feeble he had to be moved to assisted living but gets all this firepower that would make Sons of Anarchy envious up 32 floors and no one even the maid service that cleans everyday notices ... c'mon

EDIT: hundreds of hotel cameras (not hotels)

Not sure that he was living in an assisted living home as compared to a retirement neighborhood that is just older folks.

Where have you seen he lived in an assisted living place?

He lived with his gf...

The flashing seen around the 4th floor was confirmed to be the reflection of a strobe on the MB's sign.

Also, there are no other broken windows in the hotel besides the two this loon broke out in the suite.

wow thanks for the comedy break.....

he lived in a house in a retirement community - not a nursing home. big difference. lol. my grandparents moved to a LV retirement community in their 70s.....big nice house on a golf course. NOT assisted living in any way.

And the reflections off lower windows have been well debunked already. Pretty clear videos of shots fired with muzzle fire from that upper floor all over the place too that look very different from those little twinkling reflection lights.

Also hard to be a patsy when you fire through the door at cops/security just before shooting yourself.

I'm sure plenty of camera views exist and we will see him taking in suitcases alone, etc. It's just been locked down already credit to the response there.

EDIT: hundreds of hotel cameras (not hotels)

Others have already addressed the "nursing home" vs. "retirement community" angle. My in-laws live in Sun City in Georgetown, a "retirement community." My FIL golfs, mountain bikes, and runs nearly every day.

As for getting all the weapons and gear up to the 32nd floor, do you know how many people check in/out of the major Vegas hotels every day? Thousands. Even if it took him 8 or 9 trips back and forth hauling large bags and cases each time, nobody would notice because it wouldn't look out of the ordinary. I work for a defense contractor and I've personally hauled ruggedized transit cases packed with computers and electronics into hotel rooms because we didn't want to leave it all in the car to get jacked. The cases we used could have easily been re-purposed to contain an arsenal at least a big as the one this guy supposedly had.

Flashes on windows... addressed by others. Do you know how many strobe lights, neon signs, and other visual distractions are all along the strip? Honestly I'm surprised there weren't even more confusing sources of illumination. Probably would have been except for the fact that Mandalay Bay is all the way down at the far south end of the strip.

Hotel footage. I'm sure it exists and is currently being analyzed. I'm also sure we'll see plenty of it over the next weeks/months. At the same time, operational security in the big casino hotels is taken very seriously. Although the investigation is being handled by law enforcement, the casino may not be willing to give away the location and capabilities of their surveillance equipment. I'm sure they are cooperating with the investigation, but not blasting out giveaways to potential copycats and/or those considering future heists is not surprising to me at all.

I will not post a link because the footage is truly horrifying, so seek it out at your own risk. If you want to see a real life example of what a self-inflicted gunshot wound looks like in real time, look up Budd Dwyer. He committed suicide on live TV in 1987, using a handgun very similar in caliber to the one in the twitter pic that was just posted. His head wasn't blown off, and he basically just slumps down and instantly goes motionless. Depending on how this guy was standing, kneeling, leaning, whatever, the gun in the pic could have easily fallen or bounced into the orientation in the picture. And, as someone else mentioned, standard procedure for the cops that entered would be to kick the gun away immediately as they approached, just in case there was 0.000000001% chance he wasn't actually dead.

How did this guy actually build his wealth to where he didn't need to be employed? When was he last employed, 1988 is the date I heard... that is 28 years ago, so he hasn't been employed since his 30s?

Regarding the gun in the photo, some of the first things I see cops or anyone do is kick the gun away from the hands of the person even if it is pretty clear he his dead. You can also see the trail marks from the path of the gun.
