That's kind of the point; they can get there way faster by just storming the hideout, which is why a bomb could have slowed them down some.
The problem for the shooter, on the other hand, is that a functioning IED is way harder to execute than shooting people with a rifle.

Guess I'm missing the point, or just haven't been to Vegas enough recently. Do they do background checks on arriving guests now or something? Why would they care if some dude from 80 miles, or even 10 miles away wants to book a suite for a few nights?The Debt said:

Little to no chance he can hit the drone with the rifle he was using.
I know people are freaked out at the thought of this guy having 10 rifles in his room but, anyone with half a brain could have pulled off what this guy did. It is what it is unfortunately.
I also think, all things considered, a 15 minute response time isn't too bad although, that would have been an eternity for someone in the line of fire.
Crazy people will do crazy things, mental health has been largely ignored in this country for decades but I am not sure fixing that problem would prevent something like this.

If it's going to get close enough to blow him up with a bomb, I'd give him a fair chance with a "spray and pray" strategy with an automatic weapon. They're not going to send up a bomb that's going to blow the whole side off of the Mandalay Bay--it's going to have to get right next to him.OnlyForNow said:

this guy likely sprayed thousands of rounds into innocent folks out enjoying a Vegas evening... that doesn't take much training IMHO... no need to be an expert marksman.... just a nut job.

Spoke with a gun expert I know well, take it for what it's worth, but he says no way it was bump stock. He says he can hear a slapping sound which makes him think piston-operated AK47, full auto.

I travel a lot. I usually don't use the housekeeping. In Vegas, I rarely use housekeeping. It is not uncommon to be at trade show events and going back-and-forth between the show and hotel room is common.
For gamblers... gambling to the late hours and sleeping most of the morning is very common.
Man, this seems beyond fishy. Wouldn't be surprised to find out this has something to do with an organizational beef with Mandalay or some other weirdness. An accountant who lived an up-middle class life and had no political or religious affiliation. Doesn't quite pass the smell test (yet).
