First, I am in no way minimizing the tragedy that happened in Las Vegas. Pure evil. But to your point, I agree. My fear after Sandy Hook was that sometime in the future, some sicko(s) will try for the all time record of mass killing and it would be so horrific that it would cause some very major, very restrictive gun control legislation. And if the inevitable lawsuits hit SCOTUS when it happens to have a liberal majority, well poof, there goes the 2nd amendment for all intents and purposes.

Wasnt really an issue of the hotel per se. It was simply that the festival was outside the hotel. Same scenario without the festival means only a few targets.

But of course we tend to overreact and defend against then most recent tragedies. Ala 9/11.

And they tend to move on to another method. Plenty of target rich environments and you can't defend them all.

they are pretty smart when it comes to thinking of new ways to attack us. the guy might not even have known he was being used by ISIS. they could use a middle man, who could radicalize him based on whatever his flavor of conspiracy was. all conjecture at this point, but it seems plausible enough to me.

I always feel badly for the families of these people. They are usually clueless and have no desire to be drug into the limelight. In some ways, they are unwitting victims of these events, too.

It should be unnecessary to say that I obviously feel badly for the shooting victims and their families, but if you don't make the explicit statement, some wit will post something implying that sympathy cannot flow in multiple directions.
