Like Farakhan, Pat is nothing more than a leader of the ignorant. Nothing more and nothing less. Same could be said for Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swaggert, and many many others including Oral's brother, Anal Roberts.

Pat Robertson Warns Pa. Town of Disaster 23 minutes ago

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051111/ap_on_re_us/robertson_evolution

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.

All eight Dover, Pa., school board members up for re-election were defeated Tuesday after trying to introduce "intelligent design" — the belief that the universe is so complex that it must have been created by a higher power — as an alternative to the theory of evolution.

"I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover: If there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected him from your city," Robertson said on the Christian Broadcasting Network's "700 Club."

Eight families had sued the district, claiming the policy violates the constitutional separation of church and state. The federal trial concluded days before Tuesday's election, but no ruling has been issued.

Later Thursday, Robertson issued a statement saying he was simply trying to point out that "our spiritual actions have consequences."

"God is tolerant and loving, but we can't keep sticking our finger in his eye forever," Robertson said. "If they have future problems in Dover, I recommend they call on Charles Darwin. Maybe he can help them."

Robertson made headlines this summer when he called on his daily show for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

In October 2003, he suggested that the State Department be blown up with a nuclear device. He has also said that feminism encourages women to "kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."

And why does he say these outrageous things? Because he can get people to not only listen to him but repeat them on tv and in the newspaper.

There was a time I had tremendous respect for Pat. Then he entered the political arena and, like so many people who do so, his head became inflated and he began to take himself very, very seriously.

Why is how we were created so important to Christians?

Its how we live that is important.

I think that that question and observation is so interesting that you should start another thread with it or at least the same idea. I think it would generate some interesting discussion and debate.

It's not the Christians blowing this out of proportion. We know how we were made and that was by God. It's the nonbelievers who are making such a big thing out of it because they don't believe in creation. We as Christians have a right to respond when the nonbelievers attack our beliefs and that's all we're doing. We're not making a big thing out of it. Why make a big thing out of something we're certaiin of.

Pat Robertson is simply a cruel man who has little (essentially no) compassion for those who do not share his beliefs.

What about the countless tornadoes in Kansas that happen year-round? Will the number of twisters all of the sudden just go down because people decide to reject science? I can see a subtle paradox there, and it's quite funny

it shouldn't be too hard for them to reconcile evolution with the bible, somehow they've managed to reconcile being stinking rich with the what Jesus taught in the sermon on the mount.

What a joke! I have yet to see a campaign to bring science into churches, synagogues, and mosques. Instead, we see fundamentalists trying to force their particular religious beliefs into science classes by whatever means possible, including lying about science and scientific data. In Kansas, we even have religious nuts trying to change the definition of science itself.

I find it humorous that in a reaction to Pat Robertson being over the top, the responses of the humanist / naturalist / libs are equally over the top, with your conspiracy theories and wacky presumptions of evil and cruelty, coupled with the fact that your posts seem more like emotional outbursts than cool logic. You guys make him seem normal…

Notafraid-

What are you referring to as a conspiracy theory? If you are referring to my comments above, then it is a matter of public record that creationists are trying to force religion into science classes by illegitimate means. Look up information on the wedge strategy developed by Phillip Johnson.

You should also find it quite amusing that creationists dishonestely portray ID as science when it is really all about religion (see the wedge documents leaked to the press), but then at the same time try to change the definition of science. Why is that necessary if ID is science? Or as soon as ID gets booted they say stupid things like you have "voted out God". How can that be--I thought ID was about science not God?

It always amazed me how some Christians will lie and manipulate the facts when combating science, and even lie about or misrepresent their own credentials http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/credentials.html. Quite pathetic really.

Mrs. Lovelight

LOL. What does that matter? You don't have to have been in a science class recently to know about the political and legal battle being waged by fundamentalists to force religion into science classes. Are you actually going to claim that scientists are demanding equal time to present evolutionary theory in churches, synagogues, and mosques? I can hardly wait to hear this one.
Notafraid
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yes, flechenbones, it’s a giant evil conspiracy. If another Rrepublican gets in the Whitehouse in 08’ you should move to the mountains to avoid the men in the blue suits that will be out to get you for not going to church…

flechenbones
How long do you want to ignore this user?
LOL. Your feeble attempt to cast my comments as paranoid ramblings about a conspiracy won't work. This isn't a conspiracy because there isn't anything secret about it. Phillip Johnson, the founder of the Intelligent Design movement, has very openly stated in the wedge document that their "governing goals" are to:

To defeat scientific materialism and its destructive moral, cultural and political legacies.
To replace materialistic explanations with the theistic understanding that nature and hurnan beings are created by God.
http://www.public.asu.edu/~jmlynch/idt/wedge.html

He talks openly about the wedge strategy, in fact, he used to maintain a website with "wedge updates" and one of his books is called "The Wedge of Truth"

While openly lying that ID is science and not religion, he is also admitting ""This isn't really, and never has been, a debate about science, it's about religion and philosophy."
http://www.leaderu.com/pjohnson/world2.html

"Our strategy has been to change the subject a bit so that we can get the issue of intelligent design, which really means the reality of God, before the academic world and into the schools." Source: http://www.afr.net/todaysissues/tibestof.shtml

In terms of his dishonesty and un-Christian activities, even Christians can see that he is full of BS
http://www.talkdesign.org/faqs/johnson.html

So this is the kind of unethical Christian liar you want to associate with? The people you associate with say a lot about you.

In fact, it is pretty funny that you would describe my comments as a conspiracy theory since ID proponents overwhelmingly rely on conspiracies in science to cover up their lack of theory and data. They insist that we hide the truth that there is no evidence supporting evolution, that we won't let ID proponents publish because of our bias (instead of the fact that their work isn't science), etc.

What we really have here is sodomites who are trying to force their agenda on society, and to change the definition of marriage that has existed as-is for over 6000 years. And marriage is a sacrament of the church, by the way.

God bless good Ag Rick Perry for putting it on the ballot, thus making traditional marriage constitutional, so even an Austin judge can't overturn it...

flechenbones
How long do you want to ignore this user?
1. I am curious to where you are deriving an antiquity of 6000 years for marriage.

2. If marriage is indeed that old and therefore predates the church, then you must also realize that your argument that marriage should be restricted to a man and a woman because it is a sacrament holds no water since its status as a such must obviously be a relatively late phenomenon, and doesn't even hold true for many peoples and cultures.

Duh, because that's how old the Earth is. [/sarcasm]

Actually, if marriage is that old (using marriage as a "contract" between the sexes), then it must include polygamy and polyandry. Western culture has defined marriage as between one man and one woman.

I don't know what he said and I am not a follower of his show or statements but I will say our nation was founded on people that put God first into their lives. By us as a whole removing God from our lives in all aspects, we remove God's grace and blood covering.

By removing Blood covening, we allow the works of Satan to be more involved with our lives.

For those that are atheists, that makes no sense because you don't believe in divine intervention, for those that are christians, well, all I can say is read your word.

Israel was blessed and protected when they followed Jehovah, when they turned their backs on him, he turned his blood covering on them and they sufferred.

That happens over and over and over. Would 911 have happened if we were more Godly, not sure, it is in God's divine plans as far as his second coming. With that said, our country is becoming extremely wicked and we see a huge breakdown of our families, of our values and morality, of our children, of our marriage, of every aspect of our lives.

My People shall perish for their Lack of Knowledge. Blessed is the nation who calls on the Lord. If my people shall repent and turn from their wicked ways, I will heal their land.

Our country was founded on a miracle. A bunch of peasant farmers defeated the most powerful nation in the world twice. It was nothing short of God's grace.

don't think that every song has something about God's grace or something in that because all the founders knew that it was by the amazing grace of God that we had a country and that we were so extremely blessed.

Pat Robertson gets blasted for basically telling people that if you take Jehovah, Yahweh, El Shaddai, Yeshua, Christ, Jesus, etc. out of their lives, that God will turn his back on this land more and more.

God does not send the dissasters but he can turn his back and allow Satan and his demonic forces to cause harm to our country and I have no doubt in my mind that we have allowed the evil one in our lives and we have allowed wickedness at all levels to invade our lives and without a great revival, no doubt our country will continue to fall more and more.

I pray for this country and for those that pray for our country every day, God Bless them because they are the Heroes of this Country.
