How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've read where he was, but I've also been told by a co-worker that he wasn't.

Thoughts???

The natural processes that take place would not have permitted the public display of his body without embalming.

[edit]News reports say he was not embalmed, just "prepared". That's just semantics.

1. does it matter?

2. if they didnt embalm him then his body had to have gotten pretty nasty by about yesterday

there wouldnt be much they could do to avoid a stench and keep flies and nats away
(is it gnats or nats, i'm too lazy to look it up and i dont recall offhand)

John Paul II was not embalmed, only 'prepared' for public viewing, Vatican says

LAST UPDATE: 4/5/2005 6:08:20 PM

VATICAN CITY (AP) - Departing from tradition, Pope John Paul II was not embalmed, only "prepared" for viewing by hundreds of thousands of mourners, the Vatican said Tuesday.

Vatican spokesman Joaquin Navarro-Valls did not elaborate on the procedure, but an embalmer in Rome said it appeared John Paul's remains were only touched up with cosmetics.
