I could listen to Malcom Guite and King Arthur stories all day. They are great stories and Malcom is an amazing storyteller. In this video, they discuss the origins of the King Arthur myth with some of the historical evidence of his existence in the 5th century. What was interesting and that I have never heard, were the stories of Joseph of Arimathea in relation to bringing Christianity to the British Isles. There are ancient English Myths about Joseph bringing Christ to England prior to the start of his ministry. After Christs death, Joseph is arrested and told to disclose where the body of Christ is being held. He persists that Christ has risen, "don't know mate" (Gultes words not Joseph's) where He is now. So, he is locked away for 40 days without food to starve

During this time, he is visited by Christ and is sustained by consuming the flesh and blood of Christ. To the Romans astonishment, Joseph is alive and well when they open his cell. During the period of his imprisonment, Christ instructs him to take the chalice (holy grail) and spear that Logninus used to pierce his heart to the edge of the Roman kingdom. He takes the items to England and forms a Christian community and church in Glastonbury, England. Evidence of this church exists and is estimated to be established in 63 AD... Interesting who it was dedicated to.

No, none of this is "gospel" and there is scant historical evidence for these events. But some evidence does exist. Nonetheless, these King Arthur stories are fun stories even if more myth than fact.
