I wanted to say, from personal experience, that SSRIs might be a good way out once you have your feet under you. Probably not the best thing if you are really, really struggling with the meaning of life. Don't take my word for it. Talk to a licensed therapist about these drugs and the good and bad of them.

There are dangers in taking SSRIs.

Talk therapy is great. Peer support groups are free and wonderful.

I've seen medicine work wonders for some people. Everyone reacts to antidepressants and psychotropic drugs differently. You can't really make blanket statements on behalf of every depressed individual out there. Example, some people really like Lexapro, some hate it.

Also, make sure you are getting enough sleep. We live in a world where others are impressed with working extreme hours and not needing rest.
