Fall into a good idea, proving a broken clock is right twice a day, and even a broken Russian clock is right once a day.

What does this have to do with the KGB?

Maybe a satirical response to those who are inclined to say that because Putin was a former KGB agent, that that has affected his stance of not allowing the promotion of homosexuality among the youth in Russian Orthodox culture?

Me, too. Because the Orthodox tradition never changes, right?

I believe Patriarch Kiril and several other members of the Russian Orthodox Church were members of the KGB, but I assume almost anyone in some sort of position in Soviet Russia was tangentially related to the KGB.

Was there not long ago! Walked the bridge, went to the grand bazaar, saw the Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque, went to Salt Bae's and even saw a low budget music video being filmed.

The church has been a subservient arm of the state for 1000 years. Communists certainly had no problems with abortion.

This isn't new. The Orthodox Church since the beginning has been opposed to abortion. If anything it's an affirmation.

The Soviets went back and forth on abortion.

The Communist Soviets, like the CCP, placed no value on human life. Stalin banned it mainly because they needed more bodies/births.

Quote:

Soviet leaders saw abortion less as an individual human right than "an evil" resulting from poverty and oppression. Soviet leaders believed that once women were fully emancipated, they would no longer have any need for abortion.

Statistical data from the late 1920s show that typical abortion patients were not poverty-stricken, unemployed or unmarried.

As millions of women entered the labor force during the industrialization drive of the early 1930s, Soviet officials became increasingly concerned about the impact of abortion on the birth rate, which fell from 45 births per 1,000 people in 1927 to 30 in 1935.

In 1936, Josef Stalin consolidated power and the state once again made abortion illegal. According to the new law, those who performed abortions could be sentenced to up to three years in prison. Women who chose to abort could be subject to fines.
Simply put, when marxists/communists are exterminating enemies broadly domestically (this coincides with the gulag archipelago nicely), and control the education/brainwashing of youth, they decide they need more kids.

That's not really complicated, and it's also why the CCP decided to do away with the whole 'one child' gross policies and now are begging Chinese subjects to have kids.

Communist parties near and far geographically and through time love abortion, as just one of their weapons against their subjects/population control/elimination of human dignity/family structures.
