I'm not sure if getting 20-30 second, if that, snippets is a good way to judge whether these guys are theologically sound, whatever that may mean to anyone. Yeah, their schtick may turn off people, myself included, but who knows, they may hit on something every now and then.
A guy I know who was in Seminary in the early '80s, ironically with Elvis' stepbrother, Rick Stanley of all people, told the story once of Arthur Blessitt coming to class one day. Blessitt, as you may or may not know, is the guy who's carried the cross all over the world and around the US. He's probably looked at much like the guy at Kyle you're speaking about.
Anyway, so Blessitt shows up and everyone in class, including the prof, knows who he is. Most of the guys in class are there finishing up their MDiv and looking for a job at a church. Blessitt goes, "how many of you guys are looking for a church to preach at but can't find one who will give you a chance?"
Everyone in class raises their hand.
So Blessitt says, "there's 25 people over at the McDonalds across the street; why aren't you over there witnessing to them?"
The point is obvious: where there's likely unsaved people, there's opportunity. Now, if you're speaking SOLELY about his theology, then you may have an issue here. Although I'm concerned about Christian parents who've sold out to weekend, including Sunday sports programs -- which tells their kids that sports are more important than church. The kids learn that and feel justified in not attending church when the travel ball ends.
But if its the methods, who knows if it is madness or not.
