Also worth noting that Muslims do honor Jesus as a prophet. It's not like he's a random, unknown figure within Islam.
I think they also believe in the virgin birth, but I might be mistaken.
Yes. Certain schools of thought also have classically advanced a dyophysite-adjacent Christological position, especially Imami Shi'ism in correlation with the doctrine of Imamate.
I believe Islam to be a form of Nestorian Christianity that got garbled in a game of "telephone". Too many of the players are the same, and too much of the christology and Mariology overlaps.
St.John the Baptist-Yahya
Angel Gabriel- Jibril
Blessed Virgin- Maryam
Jesus Christ- Isa
St.Joseph - Yusuf
Michael the Archangel-Mikail
Satan- Shaitan
While your observations are true, Islam is quote the opposite of a form of Christianity. I did a deep dive into Surah Al-Baqarah this summer. 286 verses.
The writer used the Bible as a source document.
- You will find many Biblical characters in this chapter along with quotes of certain passages often misquoted.
- Joseph Smith did the same thing with the Book of Morm.
- They used the Bible as a source document to create their own religions
- They quote the facts wrong.
one Example: And remember when you said, "O Moses! We cannot endure the same meal every day. So just call upon your Lord on our behalf, He will bring forth for us some of what the
earth produces of herbs, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, and onions." Moses scolded them, "Do you exchange what is better for what is worse? You can go down to any village and you will find what you have asked for." They were stricken with disgrace and misery, and they invited the displeasure of Allah for rejecting Allah's signs and
unjustly killing the prophets. This is a fair reward for their disobedience and violations. Surah 2:61
Read all of Numbers 11 - more than what's below...
1 Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the hearing of the Lord; and when the Lord heard
it, His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed
some of the outskirts of the camp.
2 The people therefore cried out to Moses, and Moses prayed to the Lord and the fire died out.
3 So the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the Lord burned among them.
4 The rabble who were among them had greedy desires; and also the sons of Israel wept again and said, "Who will give us meat to eat?
5 We remember the fish which we used to eat free in Egypt,
the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic, 6 but now our appetite is gone. There is nothing at all to look at except this manna."
The unjustly killing the prophets phrase is not used in the Bible for 800 years after Moses lived. Moses lived around 1525BC to 1406BC, 874 BC Wife of Ahab killed the prophets.
2nd example: And remember when Moses prayed for water for his people
, We said, "Strike the rock with your staff." Then twelve springs gushed out, and each tribe knew its drinking place. We then said, "Eat and drink of Allah's provisions, and do not go about spreading corruption in the land." Surah 2:60
Why wasn't Moses permitted into the promise land?
Numbers 20:8 "Take the rod; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation
and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it may yield its water. You shall thus bring forth water for them out of the rock and let the congregation and their beasts drink." 9 So Moses took the rod from before the Lord, just as He had commanded him; 10 and Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly before the rock. And he said to them, "Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring forth water for you out of this rock?" 11 Then Moses lifted up his hand and
struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank. 12 But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, "Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them." 13 Those were the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel contended with the Lord, and He proved Himself holy among them.
