It generally doesn't matter. The vast majority of Christians that visit these forums arrive and depart with the exact same doctrines. Even the word of GOD won't budge them from the doctrines to which they are married.

I assume you lump yourself in this group? No matter how much history is shown about what our apostles and those who learned directly from the apostles believed, you haven't budged an inch. You believe that only your interpretation is cirrect. Why would you expect others to do so?

I have definitely adjusted my theology. I was raised a Catholic and after 50 years of being one I opened the Bible and recognized that much of their doctrine is not only unbiblical but CONTRADICTS the Bible.
Could you give a specific example of Catholic doctrine (required for Catholics to believe as Christians) that contradicts the Bible? Because the Church specifically states that both its tradition and teaching CANNOT contradict scripture.
Its a bit ironic you make this statement. I grew up in a very very bible centric protestant church and it was only after I actually dove deeper in scripture that I realized that it was teaching things that were not found in scripture.
Sounds like you either had a bad or uninformed time while in the Catholic Church and that you really didn't understand the supporting scripture/traditions (which are interpretation of scripture). Which is unfortunate but also not uncommon for cradle Catholics.
Please show us one teaching of the Church required for salvation that contradicts scripture.

I'm nobody's judge. I know what the Bible says about salvation but only Jesus can judge.

I disagree with a lot of Catholic doctrine but its core beliefs on what is necessary to be saved is sound - believe in Jesus and love one another.

I apologize if I have sent a different message.
Thanks. I think is a fairly new Catholic (9 years) I am still both enthusiastic and sometimes overly emphatic when discussing these topics, mainly because so much of what I was taught when I was young was not supported in scripture and it made me a bit jaded. Conversely, I can understand how people raised in the Catholic Church could have the opposite experience and seek something elsewhere. So no worries.

And to many people, the Catholic Church being the whole of Babylon makes sense along with the Pope as the antichrist.
I actually think that NYC might be mystery Babylon. I don't believe it's the Catholic Church although it is my firm belief that the CC is a part of the beast system.

Wow, haven't heard that one before…. Not!

M1- As you already stated, you were "raised" Catholic, meaning you never understood the faith handed down by your family. I am really glad you have found Christ and choose to worship him in your own way. However, there is a commandment that you consistently commit when you say things like you do above, because we all know who "the beast" is- the devil. As Jesus said, a house divided cannot stand. The commandment you are violating is that of bearing false witness.

Just suggesting you stop and instead focus on what you have found. The RCC bashing is a dead giveaway.

We don't have to agree on everything to be brothers in Christ my brother!

It's not my intention to be offensive, my brother. My only intention is to share and to learn.

The RCC is the only faith system recognized by THE WORLD as being its own nation. There is no question that the RCC IS "of" the world. It teaches false doctrines that lead us away from God. I believe that Catholics are saved not because of the RCC but, in spite of it because Jesus is love, Jesus is just, and Jesus is GREAT!

John 15:19
If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

Christians, as an extension fulfillment and culmination of Israel are a distinct nation, people - an ethnos. St Peter teaches this: "you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God..."

All Christians should consider themselves citizens of the kingdom of Christ, and consider themselves "foreigners and exiles" and "foreigners of the diaspora" (1 Pet 1:1) wherever they live.

St Paul echoes this teaching, reminding us that once we were "separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel" but we are "no longer strangers and aliens, but are fellow citizens of the saints and of the household of God" and "our citizenship is in heaven."

"The world" is defined for us by St John as "the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life." This is exactly what St Peter contrasts when he calls us to be foreigners and exiles - "as foreigners and exiles...abstain from the desires of the flesh, which war against your soul." In other words, to abstain from the world. This has nothing to do with the concept of a temporal government.
