That being said, there is the Lord's definition of lust at play here. It is one of many sins that bars our approach God.

I don't put limits on Gods mercy for anyone. He knows the hearts and minds of people.

Any sin separates us from God. As we seen in the Adam and Eve story. Disobedience was enough to separate them from God. So yes. Lust is a sin. However the Gospel or literally the Good News is that Jesus paid an atonement for our sins so we can be reconciled to God.

"because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.""

I heard a very succinct summary of the secular world's take on who God is, it went something like:

"God is an all powerful supernatural being that seeks to torture you for failing to choose to suffer sufficiently."

He mentioned it as an aside, and danged if I can't remember exactly who it was, someone on Pints with Aquinas podcast. Fr. Gregory Pine perhaps, but perhaps not. In any case, he didn't have the time to get into it more, though I would like to hear it. In terms of the wider world's impression of God and religion, it's certainly evidenced by the post quoted above.

We have few witnesses to the benefits of traditional morality, which leaves its proponents looking like scolds.

I don't see watching porn as a moral issue, but more of a health issue. I think more often than not, porn is harmful to the consumer. Creates unrealistic expectations, gives people body image issues, not healthy in the way it stimulates the brain. Not to mention a lot of porn is really hardcore and f***ed up

If porn being "****ed up" isn't a moral issue, what is it? It seems like it's at least partially moral.

Is this from the strand point of one who has accepted Jesus or not?

Didn't Jesus answer this pretty explicitly in Matt 5:28?

" But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."

Now as human beings we are all guilty of lust, but God expects us to mature and continue to repent to the point of overcoming this sin, like any other. And if we fall back into the sin, keep repenting. Overcoming this is a marathon, not a 100 yard dash.

Agree. I do not like the view of sins "sending us to hell".

I think we can only be truly at peace and joyful when we are in communion with God. Porn is just one of many things that separates us from God and therefore takes away from our relationship with God.

Focus on Christ instead of the porn if you can. Are you in a church? Is there a pastor or Christian friend you can confide in?

The OP asked about the definition of a term. For a person who was a highly educated Jew, taught at the feet of Gamaliel - that is to say, St Paul - sexual immortality has a specific meaning, and that meaning can be found in Leviticus.

If you'll note, I talked about both the Law and the words of Jesus Christ. There is no discontinuity between the Law given by Christ and the Truth who is Christ Himself. You won't find this distinction in the New Testament among any of the writers. Christ is the culmination of the Law.

God bless you. Your struggle is real. God does save and work through you but it is never easy. When the enemy finds a way into your life he grabs ahold and uses it constantly against you. You are in a battle. At the times of temptation Christ seems like the accuser and the enemy seems to understand. After the fall the rolls are reversed and the the enemy uses your frailty to push you further from Christ.

Please look at programs like strive 21 they can be helpful. Remember your not alone and God does save. Ask him for the grace to live a pure life, because you want to see his face.

Friend, I think you should also consider that people are not something to be consumed. Someone is behind the camera and if you're familiar how much of it is produced I think that should be further reason to stop watching. A lot online is trafficked women or manipulated women (girls do porn for example) and the effects on them are devastating. Emilia Clarke has interviews on turning to drinking for her 'acting' scenes on GoT before they hired porn stars to do them. Porn doesn't leave anyone untouched, no pun intended.

I do not see it either.

A couple of thoughts.

Being saved from our sins and being saved from sin are two different things. Sin is a thing, a taint and corruption, a kind of personified evil. Sins are the individual things which we do as a result of sin. These sins bring death and give the evil one a claim on you.

The good news is that Christ has already saved you from both. He already reconciled you - he already purchased you back from this claim through his blood. And when you are baptized, you are complete in Him - that sinful portion of you is cut away, and you die to that, and are made alive together with Him. He forgives these trespasses, and in His death and resurrection He overruled death's claim on all men - He defeated Sin once and for all.

The even better news is that for those baptized, this is all past tense. If you receive Christ in baptism you are no longer a stranger to Him, you have been reconciled to Him, and you are complete in Him, and you are able to receive the promises and the hope of things which are coming: to be counted as a son of God, a holy one, and to receive an inheritance of all of creation through him.

So if you want to be saved, you can be saved. If you continue in it, are not moved away, strive according to His work which works in you - you will appear with Him in glory. These are promises to us.

Yeah, "cherry picking" scripture has not really been something that I'd associate with you. Ever.

I would add that this conversation can be expanded to any lust. There's little difference between watching pornography and lusting after someone while in church. One looks worse but they are essentially the same.

Christ came not to abolish the law but fulfill it. It was incredibly relevant to to the question in the OP in my opinion.

I think what PA is saying we aren't under the law. So the question by OP Is what is the result of the sexual sin.

So first what is sexual sin? We see it in the law but Jesus expounds on it to include the heart.

So what's the result of such sin? Is it found in the law or Gospel? Well it's found in the Gospel, which if I may be so bold to say that's what PA was articulating.

Which is as Zobel was saying you put your Faith in Jesus He does the complete work.

To you OP: the work of sanctification is a process. Of which you are in. Do not be discouraged. I get angry quickly. That's a sin. It's been a long journey for me and I see progress in myself today compared to years ago by the Grace of God. Trust in Him. He will deliver you.

Example:Were the Israelites delivered from Egypt in a single day or was it a process to get them out? The answer is YES.
