Sexual immorality has a specific definition, see the holiness code in Leviticus 17-26.

That being said, there is the Lord's definition of lust at play here. It is one of many sins that bars our approach God.
That's what I figured. I cannot overcome it.
Let Christ overcome it. Focus on how great our God is, not on how weak we are. You are a lot stronger, especially with Christ, than you think you are.
Let Christ overcome it? I don't know what that means. Jesus promises to save me from my sins. I am not being saved. I have prayed for salvation, but it remains.

Keep in mind that Christ fell twice carrying the Cross. You won't be judged for your failures. We are all, after all, sinners. You will be judged by choosing to stay on the street, in the gutter if you will. I pray you will find the strength to stand again and carry your burden. Know you will fall again and again. However, if you keep rising and you continue the path along the Via Dolorosa, you will find salvation on the hill of Calvary.

A couple of thoughts.

Being saved from our sins and being saved from sin are two different things. Sin is a thing, a taint and corruption, a kind of personified evil. Sins are the individual things which we do as a result of sin. These sins bring death and give the evil one a claim on you.

The good news is that Christ has already saved you from both. He already reconciled you - he already purchased you back from this claim through his blood. And when you are baptized, you are complete in Him - that sinful portion of you is cut away, and you die to that, and are made alive together with Him. He forgives these trespasses, and in His death and resurrection He overruled death's claim on all men - He defeated Sin once and for all.

The even better news is that for those baptized, this is all past tense. If you receive Christ in baptism you are no longer a stranger to Him, you have been reconciled to Him, and you are complete in Him, and you are able to receive the promises and the hope of things which are coming: to be counted as a son of God, a holy one, and to receive an inheritance of all of creation through him.

So if you want to be saved, you can be saved. If you continue in it, are not moved away, strive according to His work which works in you - you will appear with Him in glory. These are promises to us.
This seems like a popular post, but I don't find it true. I was baptized and that sinful portion of me is not cut away, it remains. I want to be saved, but do not continue in it, I am moved away, and God's work is not working in me.

Does watching texas lose to Kansas over and over again count as pornography? Because it's pretty arousing.

You become more like what you do and worship. There is always the element of the now vs the not yet for Christians. If you have been baptized, you are a son of God, there is no condemnation for those who are faithful. You need to take hold of that. It's not easy, but the question is one of faithfulness, which is entirely up to you - and He is faithful.

Those who watched porn will go to hell unless they have REPENTED of that sin and trust in Jesus alone for their righteousness.

True Christians who are tempted to porn, will continually repent of it and eventually STOP sinning in that manner.

Porn is not a sin you 'fall' into. It's one you dive into with deliberation.

So stop watching porn. All of you.

I know this. I have repented in the sense that I feel sorry. I trust in Jesus for my righteousness. But nothing has changed. It has been a problem since I discovered it when I was young. That's what I mean when I say I haven't been saved from it. I can think of 4 times in my entire life that I have experienced a reprieve in which I didn't look at it for 3-6 months. But it always comes back.

Like any addiction, if your porn consumption is impacting your life (you are avoiding real interactions with real people) seek professional help.

Deal with the addiction for its own sake, not out of some fear of burning in hell for your behavior.

If you truly trusted Jesus Christ ALONE for your righteousness then you would not have to stop sinning to obtain righteousness. That is works based salvation.

That being said, porn is a truly awful thing that studies have shown warp people's mind in a manner similar to drugs. It can also be incredibly harmful to your real life physical relationship with the opposite sex.

OP- I will link a good sermon Ive seen on the subject as well as a quick video on going to Heaven/Hell

Steve Anderson? Really? There are plenty of good sermons on porn without turning to someone who wants to execute gay people and prays for the death of Obama. He's a cult leader who is consumed with pure hatred.

I never realized when Jesus told people to stop sinning, after he forgave their sins he was endorsing a pelagian concept of works based salvation.

OP, does one consume porn while living in the spirit or in the flesh?
Is porn something of this earth of something of heaven?
Is porn consumption a fruit of the spirit or a fruit of the flesh?

I think Galatians 5: 19-25 might be a good read for this one.

You can do this. Dealt with it my entire life, same as you - getting reprieve then backsliding once again and feeling overwhelmed with guilt. Constantly repent and remain in prayer about it. Read the word daily - journaling has helped me as well. Helps me to see how far I've come and gives hope for the future. The temptation never really goes away, you just learn to replace the void in your heart with Jesus rather than lust. You got this.

I encourage you to simply turn to Christ each and every time you are tempted.1 Cor. 6:18 says tp flee from sexual immorality. Trust in Christ and choose him each time you are tempted in the least. Read 1 Cor. 10:13 and ultimately live out 2 Cor. 12:9 that Christ glory can shine in/from you.

I encourage you to thoroughly study the book of 1 John. Its only 5 chapters, but read, meditate and pray on it.
Finally, choose Christ. and find a fellow believer to help you.

I pray for you.

One of the effects of porn is the perversion of the human body as a temple of God. Human form IS beautiful. I would put it at the top.

I don't think anyone would argue that an attractive woman or man is sinful to look at, much less admire such beauty. It is when we begin to imagine it for our taking that the problem begins. Kind of like looking at clouds and seeing their beauty in the sky, then going further and imaging them as objects.

As a married man, going on 34 years, I know that I must be aware of what enters my mind, especially when it comes to pornography. I'm not just thinking of the internet, but movies and shows as well. Game of Thrones comes to mind. A great story, but full of gratuitous sex scenes that were unnecessary to advance the plot in my opinion. We, wife and I, were quick with the remote at those times!

Bottomline - It is NOT just the viewing of porn that will distort you view of women/men - rather the objectification of human persons that will result when you just can't get enough, IMO.

Getting married helped me kick it. Finally just got pissed off enough at myself for doing that to my wife that I quit cold turkey. Didn't have near the guilt when I was single.

Almost like quitting nicotine. Don't think the craving ever goes away completely. But if you're quitting because you want to, rather than because you feel like you have to, it will stick. God bless.
