The key to Eve's sin is in the to be desired to make one wise (Gen: 3:6), part in that Eve was not content with how G-d had created her and desired to be more wise, that would then give her the ability to use her free will to bolster her pride.

MrMeek, you are assuming that the knowledge of good and evil is equated with knowing right and wrong. G-d said not to do something. Eve went against that command. Why? Pride...she wanted more. Maybe she did not know what to die meant, but she knew her action was against what G-d said.

I haven't followed as closely the last few weeks, but Mr Meeks seems more like Tyson.....but it could just be that the atheists on these threads are consistently of a more angry/bitter nature.

I can certainly see why atheists become bitter and frustrated when half the religious posters make no effort to have a healthy dialogue. I have to fight tooth and nail to make any point because each is met with at least 3 frivolous questions, 3 blatant distortion a of my claim, 3 sessions of name calling, and 3 accusations of being another poster. Normally at the end of this cycle I'm asked them to make the same point again which restarts the cycle.

I'm not the nicest guy or the worst guy but I don't try and drown dialogue in empty questions or distractions nor do I blatantly and purposefully twist the words of others into complete distortion a of their views.

Healthy ideologue is a two way street bub. Have you given it a second thought that it might have a little to do how you enter the discussion? Not much use in trying to start any sort of discussion when it is not likely to be fruitful. Now I for one do not need anyone here to agree with the points I try to make here but it would certainly be nice if they at least made the effort to understand the position. Regarding the tree of knowledge and creation story. Think of it this way.

1) God is the true source of knowledge. He is God and we are not. He is the authority. We are like planets that orbit the sun. If there was not sun we would be drifting off in every direction. There is order because there is one source of truth (God).

2) The world falls into chaos, when we are all like gods and we all do what we want. Every decides what is right and wrong. It is not difficult to see how this turns out. " Too many cooks spoil the stew"

3) As many posters have pointed out, there is nothing wrong with seeking education. there is a reason Catholics have embraced science, education and schools. When you seek the truth, you will find God. Because God is the truth.

My dog has no understanding of good and evil. But he runs and hides when I catch him chewing something he isn't supposed to because he understands the consequence of his actions will be punishment.

While Adam and Eve may not have been aware of the wrongness of the actions, it was made clear that if they ate the fruit they would die.

That thread was spun off another where bustup and I were having a very adversarial conversation.

This is the type of lies I deal with from bustup on multiple threads across board. I'm sorry if my frustration with him should over into my dialogue with other Christians.
