I just got back from Pine Cove Family Camp. I highly recommend it for anyone any age.

From the website:

quote:
Pine Cove's purpose is to be used by God to impact each life that walks on our grounds. Of course this is not by our power or ability, but by the Lord's presence, particularly in the lives of the Pine Cove staff as they model His character, serve without reservation and love without conditions.

Our desire is to use God's grand outdoor setting along with challenging and fun activities, delicious food, quality activities, and a well-designed program to attract and satisfy our guests. The strongest impact and joy of Pine Cove’s summer camps is in the genuine one-on-one relationships, challenging teaching, Bible studies, time alone and the corporate gatherings to worship our Savior Jesus Christ.

The Woods and Pine Cove at Crier Creek hosts eleven weeks of Family Camp and the Bluffs hosts 10 weeks of Family Camp. The Woods hosts 11 weeks of Day Camp. The Towers, Ranch and Shores Camps hosts ten weeks of seriously fun and spritually based youth camps. In this unique setting called Pine Cove, guests experience the joy Christ has for anyone who desires intimacy with Him. We invite you to come and let us serve you!

Since they have opened up slots to families for free, who are unemployed and allow people in the ministry to come for half off, I would lighten up on the angry face and cynicism. You can also apply for scholarships.

The camp has a 95% return rate of its campers. I just signed my family up for next year this morning. The only reason there are openings this year is because they opened up two new family camps the past two years.

The presence of God is amazing there. The first night our family met with a Camp Counselor who was assigned to pray for us all week. There were a number of times that I walked past the dining hall and saw the staff walking from table to table in the empty dining room praying for the people who would sit at the tables that night.

Just as a side note: It was great to see so many Aggies on Staff.

Did you go to Crier Creek or the other family camp? My girlfriend is on the staff at Crier Creek and absolutely loves working there.

I went to Pine Cove: The Woods.

When I was a kid I attended Pine Cove: The Ranch. I also worked there for a summer as a counselor.

I am glad to hear that your Girl Friend loves it.

The only problem that I have (and have had since I was 8) is that they make you pay so much to experience God. I know they have scholarships but that's usually reserved for those who honestly cannot pay. My family is not poor, but I simply refused to let them pay that much to send me there. My younger sister, however, has gone for the past 10 years now. I just think that they should be ashamed of themselves for charging that much. There are planty of free or cheap places to go and still experience the joy of Christ.

AHH, I have so many friends who work at PineCove!! I worked at Sky Ranch two years ago, and Camp Mystic this summer... Both summers, God just rocked the house!

It really tends to jumpstart your life after you leave there, doesn't it.

It's soo awesome to go to camp, and have the fire you know is within lit for the Lord!!!

Good to hear that you had a great time at Family Camp. Now that I've graduated from A&M etc...I think this was my last summer to be able to work camp

sodiumacetate,

Pine Cove is a non-profit organization, and I know that in some cases at some camps, they even lose money for the week. They are not charging a lot of money because they are trying to make profits or they only want well off families to "experience God"; it is because that is what it costs them to provide the service and experience.
